Poker is, and has been a welcome distraction, infuriating at times , exhilarating at others.
Along the way I have received a lot of encouragement from an awful lot of people which I am really grateful for, thank you.
I’d like to finish off by bringing things up to date as to where I and my loved ones are at.
My good lady is as strong as ever, in mind if not in body ,we have been married 30 years, how she has put up with me in all that time is anyone’s guess. She is in ‘ Heart Failure’ , a term which sounds scary, but encompasses a wide range of issues. Her sister had a cardiac arrest in her 40’s , and the consultant in London now has enough evidence to suggest a genetic defect, my daughter is also on his ‘books’ as she has a reduced injection faction. I’m going up to London on the 1st of August with my good lady and her sister for their appointment with the consultant ( He’s now a professor oooooo)
My awesome grandson is just...so lovely, he’s now being potty trained, and when he does his ablutions there’s a great deal of joy and he claps his hands and dances round the house 😊 Little things like that bring so much happiness.
My Dear Daughter is in a good space at present She seems to have come to terms with the fact that she needs medication to keep her stable, the down side of which is that some of the medication she has to take daily has an effect on her weight, now in this day and age of body image, and the fact that before having to be on this medication she was a beautiful slim young lady, this adds another dimension to her struggles.
She spoke to me about this issue yesterday, I was pleased when she said “ I’d rather be fat and sane than slim and crazy” , although she was obviously trying to put a brave face on it. She has joined a gym, now that’s not easy for her as she suffers with terrible anxiety and those amongst us that understand how judgemental the world today is, that’s no easy feat, she goes with my niece , I am one proud father.
I haven’t mentioned much about my son during my ramblings here, he’s a lad, he’s doing well at work, has a lovely girlfriend, and is trusting me to pick him up from the airport on his return from holiday 😏.
Finally, me. This story started when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I’m still in remission, I have more good days than bad. I’m thankful to have been granted these years to enjoy my ‘extra time’ surrounded by those who I love, and love me.
That’s all folks. Hope to see you in Brighton at the upcoming SPT. Love x
If I could reach your level of equanimity in my life dude, I'd be landed - the way you have handled some of the stuff that life has chucked at you is quite something. I've really enjoyed reading this thread and lovely to see it end on a pleasant note. Maybe see you in Brighton, peace out.
Inspirational thread.... Lovely to hear you and your family are doing, and coping well. Thank you for writing it, and always remember, as in Life itself..... it's not over 'til the Fat Lady sings ...... and I can't hear any warm-up warbling
WELL DONE on winning your first seat to Brighton.... Hope to see you there if I can finally win a seat
This has been a great thread and a great read Tom. So inspirational to see that you and your family are in a good place, long may that continue. See you in Brighton

It seems ironic that we both enjoy poker and only live a few miles away yet have only ever met in Vegas. What a strange world.
I doubt if I will have time to play Brighton but I am sure you and the rest of the gang will have a great time.
If possible, PLEASE don't let it end.
See you in Brighton.
WELL DONE on winning your first seat to Brighton.... Hope to see you there if I can finally win a seat
Good luck Tom.
Take care Tom and hopefully see you again soon
Been a great Diary, this, & it'll be sorely missed.
Take care Tom, & see you in Brighton.
