The first week is always the easiest, & when we should lose most, so 6lbs is no surprise, but I'm pretty pleased with it.
I missed my 2 daily walks on Wednesday, as I had to go up to Leeds & was out of the house 15 hours. I also yielded to snacks (sandwiches, sausage roll) on the train, when it broke down in the middle of nowhere & I was stuck there in the dark & cold train for 2 hours. No excuse really, & I was disappointed in myself.
On Thursday, I had 7 hours in the car, & stuck in various motorway jams, & took solace in a small pork pie. God, I could marry a pork pie. But not when dieting. And I missed my walks, too.
Work has been stressful this week, too - Pentagon has been challenging for me. When it kicks off in the evening, I am usually 4 or 5 tabling, so juggling those at the same time as sending e-Mails, relaying info on the private staff Slack Channel & Posting Updates on the Forum absolutely stresses me to the max. And for every complaint on the Forum, I get 3 or 4 PM's from friends, too, who spare my blushes by keeping their views off the Forum, but then I have to try & find the right reply to them. When hard-dieting, stress is a bad thing.
Overall though I'm pleased. If I can manage a 2lbs or 3lbs loss this coming week, I'll be happy.
Gonna give myself 7/10 for week 1. And 0/10 for getting so overweight in the first place.
I shall be doing mine when I get back from work. Did have one minor blip on the diet front but on the whole I have been good and have been exercising all week so I'm expecting to have lost some weight.
Still haven't smoked.....its a struggle though I won't lie!

Congrats, that's a huge plus already.
I'm vaping pretty much non stop though. There are mixed opinions regarding the dangers of vaping but the general view seems to be that it is far better than smoking, so I will continue to vape until I hear otherwise.
Have you seen my lost on another thread regarding your daily calorie intake Tikay. I could be wrong but that doesn't seem like enough. Any diet consisting of a calorie intake of <1200 calories can have a negative impact on your health
I smoked for about 30 years age 15-45 ish, not had a cig for about 7 years and would never go back to them. Been using an e-cig pen vape thingy for about 3 years and for me they are one of the best things to have ever happened as i know for sure if they had not been invented i would ended back on the dreaded tabs.
I try to walk about 30 miles a week as i find it the only enjoyable form of exercise, i cannot get into jogging, swimming baths or the gym. Decent long walks are great if you have the time and you do feel the benefit for sure. I have a bit of a sciatica problem and i have been told to give yoga a try. I am not overly enthusiastic about it i must be honest but it is something i definitely have pencilled in for 2018.
I try to eat reasonably healthy and gave up takeaways a few years ago. Now i really need to cut down a bit on the alcohol and crisps but that's probably not gonna happen.
Weight - Started at 17st 8 lbs. Now at 17st 6 lbs.
Smoking - Had wanted to stop. In short, this has not happened yet. This week has been thoroughly nuts at work. The last 3 days have possibly been my busiest at 'work' ever. I also have 10 classes of new students next week and all the associated lessons to plan so it is not going to get much easier.
On the positive side. For probably the first time in the last 5 years I have been under 20 ciggies a day. #BabySteps or #BabyBabySteps
Minor blip was having a Chicken Kebab on Wednesday but could have been worse.
I'm currently doing Insanity Max 30 which is 30 mins of Hiit 5 times a week. Seems to be doing the trick so far.
I have to admit though that I'm having a gathering tomorrow night which will involve alcohol. I have opted for Gin and slimline tonic rather than beer though. However, I will no longer be drinking just for the sake of it at weekends so will be cutting back a lot.
I don't know if or how you guys are counting your calories, nutrition or logging any exercise, but if you are then I can highly recommend using an app called My Fitness Pal. It's a free app and it really does make logging everything so much easier. It has a barcode scanner so you just scan the food packaging and it logs the calories and nutritional values on a daily diary.
You can also enter any exercise you do and it calculates the approx amount of calories lost.
Has made it so much easier for me this week and I find it helps to keep me motivated.
Well done team, apologies for not posting yesterday.
I'm still smoking, but last week probably smoked the fewest cigarettes in a week than I have done since I was 15. So that's something, I suppose. Plus it's been super-light tobacco and has only cost me £10 for a week. So that's something too, I suppose.
Hopefully, I can gradually ween myself off that and inch towards more meditation, exercise, cold showers (hi Tikay) etc. which should help with quitting smoking. Don't think I could just cold turkey it now with current lifestyle/stress and so on.

Have you ever tried vaping? Get yourself a decent vaper with a sub ohm tank, it gives you a proper lung full. It's by no means as good as a real smoke but it really does take the edge off.
You're looking at about 60 quid for a good vape kit, but it more than pays itself back with the money you save on cigs. I get my juices from 1 pound e-liquid, I don't see the need to spend more on pricier liquids as these are just as good as any others I've tried.
If you're really serious about giving up then vaping is the route that I would suggest.
Good luck with whichever way you try to quit, it's tough but 100000% worth it

Very happy with that start.
Terrific start, well done you.
For those who were not aware, Phants was 15st 2lbs a week ago, so that's a good, solid start, well done mate.

Result. Haven't really started dieting yet, just substituted fruit for cheese in snacks.

Some crazy numbers for the first week.
6lb, 9lb, wow.
Good luck all
I'm just waiting for one straggler to report - paging @SR23, paging @SR23 - then I'll do a little summary of week one.
5lb loss by waller & 2lb loss by Marky - well done lads.
I'm chuffed to bits how this has gone for us all so far.
Do you realise that, between us, we may save a life, or elongate some lives? Amazing really. But true.

^Strange sentence that, but in this context it is definitely a good thing!
Let's keep it up for week#2
