A phrase that is new to me was coined yesterday, there may now be a "Blind Brexit".
This refers to the fact that some experts now believe that we will get the Withdrawal Agreement agreed and signed, including just a broad outline about our future trading relationship, with the detail to be decided at some point in the future.

This is almost certain to be the case, with it going to be a further 2 years before everything is sorted and comes into place

So the easiest deal in history according to Liam Fox, may take 4 years to negotiate.

Carl Mortished: Brexit doomsaying can’t beat British nostalgia for gloom

It is utterly futile for Remainers to sound the alarm about job cuts, thumping losses at John Lewis and House of Fraser, negative equity in the housing market and capital flight to New York, Paris, Frankfurt and beyond. Such commentary only excites Brexiteers. Bring it on, they cry. We have been there before. We will triumph again!
This isn’t just populist rhetoric or the stale xenophobia of a comic-strip view of history; it is Britain’s national mythology, and unless the country is administered a very cold shower soon, events next year could cause real harm to a great many people.

I find it absolutely amazing that prior to the referendum we didn't have one politician that foresaw that the Irish border would pose a problem.

Why didn't one of them think that leaving the EU would create a problem in this respect. The EU were bound to insist on one.
Why would they risk Ireland becoming a back door into the EU for goods and people.

Before we even get on to talks about any future relationship, we have to conclude the Withdrawal Agreement, which includes the Irish border.

The EU have been quite flexible as I suppose they could have just insisted on a hard border in Ireland.

The Brexiteers have maintained that the problem could be solved with technology, but none of them have been able to come up with a clear plan. Others of them have said that the technology doesn't yet exist.

There are 3 obvious solutions to this problem,

    1 Hard border in Ireland.

    2 Irish Sea border.

3 Staying in the Customs Union, and Single Market.

Theresa May doesn't like any of the solutions. Why would she expect the EU to come up with more solutions, when it is not their problem. We chose to leave.

She has also withdrawn her support for the current backstop agreement, which she agreed to last December, and again in March.

It would have been impossible to think that 2 years later we could be in this situation.

Obviously both sides want a deal. So what does it say about our Governments negotiating skills to end up where we are, with so little time left.

There is no need for anyone to be concerned about nobody liking the Chequers Proposal, because at this rate, we will be leaving before they get to discuss it.

No Withdrawal Agreement means no transition period, and we are over the famous cliff edge in March.

Ok, I prefer to just avoid reading stuff that doesn't interest me, rather than moaning about it, but that's just my preference.

I am sorry that you didn't realise that the Brexit title of the thread didn't make it blatantly obvious that it wasn't.

Brexit protection? Farage-themed condoms a hit among UK eurosceptics

BIRMINGHAM, England (Reuters) - Nigel Farage, the former leader of Britain's UK Independence Party, has long had a knack for generating publicity for his eurosceptic cause, but campaigners say he had nothing to do with the latest stunt: branded condoms bearing his image.
Among the most attention-grabbing items on sale at this year's UKIP conference in Birmingham on Friday were condoms in packets printed with an image of Farage, eyebrow raised, and the phrase "For when you have a hard Brexit" underneath

An internet forum is a terrific place to debate the pros and cons of practically any particular subject.
However, a small group of people seem to have taken on the role of self appointed critics.
Yet they don't seem to have a wish to express personal views on any topic.
They will never start a thread on any subject.
Their criticism never seems to be constructive, and often, nothing to do with the content of a particular thread.

If you had no interest in Brexit, what would encourage you to clink on a thread that was clearly entitled Brexit?

If you had done so accidentally, what would then inspire you to criticise the topic, or contributors?

    Its all beyond me.

Whether the people that have no interest in Brexit, deserve to be poorer as a result of it, is another debate.

Can this be moved to the Rail please? No problems having such a thread, but "Poker Chat" it isn't.
