Might have changed recently but you could get cocktails for 'free' in Aria the other year.

Last year I asked for a mojito in Mirage....I ended up with a Boston lager instead :)

'A lot of these waiter/ex’s are right characters. A line that even made it onto KevMath twitter was a woman with an American accent shouting across two tables “I still haven’t got the coffee I ordered” (indicating she had been waiting a while) the waiter turned back and bellowed “You will have it when I’ve gone and got it” there were a few tables of laughter as his reply was right off the cuff. '

I heard of one the other day. In a restaurant an obnoxious woman says very loudly 'I'm going to die of dehydration before I get my drink', waiter says (a little too loudly), 'yes, that's the plan'. Apparently most of the other diners had a good laugh and the waiter was well tipped that night.

Great read Tikay - would love to hear about your progress on the tables so far. Sadly haven't read about any deep runs in WSOP events unlike previous years.

OK Mr @Brrrrrrr , will do.

Was kinda hoping nobody would ask, as I had a torried time. For sure, it won't take long to report my MTT successes this trip........

I'll likely do it tomorrow or Tuesday, as I'm heading home today, so gotta pack & return the Hire Car etc. Flight is 4.30 this afternoon (Sunday) & it lands at Gatters - ABW - around 9am on Monday.

I will tell you this now though, biggest disappointment of the trip was cashing in the WSOP baby PLO ($565) and not getting a mention in Barny's WSOP Updates.

That hurt. Shocking reporting really, shocking. I'll never forgive him.

    Yours in Curly Lippage,

Post duly edited. In my defence it was one of the events that took place while I was in Sweden for the weekend, so I rushed through the following posts a bit. While I was away, I did get to across an impressive piece of engineering I'm sure you'd appreciate - the Øresund Bridge between Denmark & Sweden

Curly Lippage-isn't that just outside Gatwick?

    Morning @Brrrrrrr

Completely forgot about this, probably because there were not any deep runs.....

I went out there full of cautious confidence, as I rarely lose money in Vegas, but it all went horribly wrong.

    An analogy would be a boxer, going into a fight he thought he could win, & emerging like this;

    Of the 16 MTT's I played, 5 of them were 2 or 3 day affairs, & I made Day 2 Exactly once.

It was at The Venetian, and my supporters turned out in droves - absolute droves - to rail me.

They must have known that I was not even going to survive a single orbit - in fact I went busto on the very first hand iirc. Marv.

In total, I played about 14 events, & cashed in just 3.

    SATURDAY 2nd June – Binions $365 PLO8 ZERO

MONDAY 4th June – Golden Nugget $250 Mixed PLO8/O8/BigO ZERO

    TUESDAY 5th June – Golden Nugget $250 Big O 19th, $362

WEDNESDAY 6th June, Binions, $365 PLO ZERO

    THURSDAY 7th June – Venetian, $600 Big O ZERO

    FRIDAY 8th June – WSOP $565 PLO $876

    SATURDAY 9th June – Venetian $800 PLO8 ZERO

TUESDAY 12th June – WSOP $1,000 PLO ZERO

    WEDNESDAY 13th June – Venetian $600 PLO8 ZERO

THURSDAY 14th June – WSOP $1,500 PLO ZERO

    FRIDAY 15th June – Binions $365 PLO8 $805

    SATURDAY 16th June – WSOP $1,500 Mixed Omaha (PLO8, O8, Big O) ZERO

    SATURDAY 23rd June – Venetian, $1,100 PLO8 ZERO

    TUESDAY June 26th – WSOP $1,500 PLO8 ZERO

Total loss? $10,760 minus returns of $2,243, so in real money, that's a loss of around £6,500. Oucho. Fortunately (but not for them) I sold about 50% of my action to my usual bunch of intrepid stakers, who buy every year, & have done for many years. Worst year (as to MTT results) I've ever had in Vegas. Oddly, cash game action was the opposite, & I ran real good all trip. Just as well.

Highlights? (At the poker tables). Struggling to think of many, or even any.

I guess cashing (just about - it was a min cash) in the WSOP Baby PLO ($565) almost counts. I collected $876 for a profit of about $300. Yippee yay. It was my 7th & easily my smallest ever WSOP cash. One of these days Rodney.....

Lowlights? I'd be here all day if I listed them.

I guess the $1,500 WSOP PLO might be a contender, where I lasted exactly 41 minutes. So that baby cost me $36 per minute. Yikes.

It all went wrong in just 2 hands. B v B, I had K-K-x-x, & the flop of Q-Q-x was checked to me, so I thought it might be worth repping the Q, & anyway, I had Kings which were almost certainly well ahead. He smoothed. Hmm.

Has he really got the Q? The turn came another Q, so there were THREE on the board now. So it's now far less likely he has a Queen, & so I'm only losing to Aces (possible but unlikely, as there was no raise pre).

Checked to me again, I bet again, & he then potted it. Oh dear.....After much pained musing, I found the fold. He was kind enough to show me Aces. Which were his back-up hand, as he had the Queen too, for quads. So at no stage, ever ever, was my hand good........

That was a bit embarrassing, & my stack had now halved. No need to panic though. Exactly one orbit later - B v B, same guy again, I flop a set of jacks on the A-J-4 flop. He had a set of Aces though......

    Hoe do these things happen?

In the WSOP PLO8, I had Aces v Aces twice (red v black each time) & got scooped both times.

In the $1,600 PLO8 @ Venetian, I got it in with an identical hand to the villain, red v black again. The board came all red. Guess who had the red cards?

So, one way & another, it never went very well this year. I am not sure I played very well, & I certainly never ran well. A deadly combination, that.

Having said all that, I loved every minute of it.

Live poker - to me - is the absolute nuts, & especially so in Vegas.

So many fascinating characters at the tables. And of course, in live poker, it's very very rare indeed for other players to swear, abuse you, call you "fish" (how dumb is that?) or generally berate anyone. It's easy from behind a keyboard, of course, but in the live game, they'd never dare.

I could write all day about my poker experiences in Vegas this year, but you'd all fall asleep.

In short, it was fun. Painful fun, but fun.

At the Big O Cash tables, ($1, $2, with a $5 straddle, &, effectively, a $5 bring in) it was the opposite.

How about this for the flop of dreams?

That's my hand at the front of photo.

Aces, nut flush draw, & 5-8-9 for super-wrap around the 6-7. It rarely gets better than that, & I collected my largest cash pot of the trip.

Best thing ever in poker - awaiting the start of a WSOP event.

Away from poker, we went up to Seattle - a real trains, boats & 'planes trip - & did a 4 hour tour of the largest building in the world - the Boeing Factory at Everett. It was wonderful.

And with that, I shall draw a discrete veil on Vegas 2018.

I should add that SPT Las Vegas was - quite probably - the best SPT ever, & was a storming success.

    All good then. Mostly.
