The sheer scale of Vegas poker is demonstrated by the variety of games on offer.
If you want to play MTT's, there are 15 or 20 rooms in Vegas, & all of them run Tourneys 7 days per week.
Many rooms run 3 or 4 MTT's every day - Venetian, Binions, Golden Nugget etc - ad The Rio generally have 3 or 4 daily deepstacks each day, 3 or 4 WSOP Events, half a dozen Super Sats & hundreds of STT's.
PLO8 is not spread much in the UK, but at The Orleans you can play PLO, PLO8 or Limit O8 7 days per week.
You can enter an MTT in Vegas at this time of the year, literally at any hour of the night & day.
A mate of mine, Albert Sapiano, arrived at my Table in a Venetian Deepstack one day at 2.05pm, & I chided him for arriving 5 minutes late. "Late? It's my third MTT of the day, I busted the Aria Noon first hand, then played the 1pm Deepie at Rio & busted that, so this is number three".
He was out of that by 3pm, & toddled off to Wynn to play something there.
It's MTT heaven.
The rake/reg fees are a shocker though. Downtown, typically, a $300 MTT will be $300 + $65 reg fee (almost 22%), and a $200 one comes in at $200 + $50 - that's 25%. These are all re-entries, so bust early & take a 2nd bullet & you are, in effect, paying 50% Reg Fee. 3 Bullets & you are paying 75% reg fee.....
Today, I'm playing a $600 affair at Venetian. Here's how the entry fee is calculated;
$55 of the $600 Buy-In will be withheld for Entry Fee. $27 of the $600 Buy-In will be withheld for the Staff Fee. $518 of each $600 buy in will form the prize pool.
So of the $600, just $518 goes in the Prize Pool, the rest is reg fee.
Now - still at The Rio, & still in the same cash game room - it's called "The Pavilion" & I've been in aircraft hangers which are smaller - they also have the High Roller area, known as "Kings Lounge", which is sponsored by Leon Tsoukernik.
Pretty plush tables, huh?
They don't have waiting lists as such, if you fancy a game, they just start a table there & then.
Decent variety of games on offer for the High Roller boys though;
There was TWO $75 - $150 PLO Cash Games running in there last night. God knows how much cash would have been on each table.
In a $1 $2 $5 Big O Cash Game, the Small Blind is $1, the Big Blind is $2 & the Button MUST straddle $5.
Pre flop action therefore starts on the SB, & he/she either makes up to $5, raises, or folds & loses the $1 SB. Same with the Big Blind, it's effectively a $5 bring-in, so it's $5 to limp, or if you pass, you forfeit the $2, obv.
Generally, it's 6 or 7 limpers to the Button, who then makes it $40, & half the limpers now call. So suddenly there is several hundo in the middle.
Comments
I appreciate I was inadvertently in front of the TV yesterday: "Out of the way, fatso!" seemed a little harsh...
More waffle please.
I am pretty sure waffles are off the menu,
Tony is being a good boy.

Cash games? That's another story....
Once you get back maybe make a start on that book we all want you to write?
So, cash games.
Let's look at just ONE venue - The Rio. Bear in mind there are 15 or 20 rooms in Vegas, all of them offering cash games.
We'll ignore Hold 'Em, they usually have 40 or 50 Hold Em games running, both Limit & NL, at all price points.
So here are the Mixed Games on offer at The Rio. The photos are of the Plasma Screens which display the Waiting Lists.
I don't even know what some of these games are.
Pretty plush tables, huh?

What is madatory STR?
5-10-25 Big O three blinds?
"Mandatory STR" is a mandatory straddle.

That's in the Kings Lounge, the High Roller area.
I have no idea what it is, but suspect it's what it suggests - a $5 small blind, $10 medium blind & $25 big blind.
Might be wrong there, I'm just guessing.
It'd juice the game up a bit, I suspect.....
