For a little balance, you got it all-in pre-flop as a 35%/65% dog, so it's not really a bad beat, or even a beat, is it? Our equity is calculated when the money goes in, & A-K man was the 2/1 favourite.
For context...there's also table dynamics to consider. Our friend with AK was very active and playing a massively wide range from late position. When I jammed I was expecting (hoping for) a fold and knew if I got called I was at best flipping but likely in bad shape.
But sat on a 20BB stack with the blinds soon going up to give me a 13BB stack, and a super active player on my right who'd shown a willingness to fold to big three bets, you have to pick spots to grab some chips. Often you'll get a fold in this spot.
Of course it's a call from him. And of course he's favourite when the cards are turned over. He still hits an 8% river though.
I think what it boils down to is I'm having (yet another) stinker of a run. And, bemoaning such outcomes is the raison d'etre of this particular thread, I thought.
Yes, all noted, & in my opinion - FWIW - you played the hand exactly as you should.
