    Day 50.

Ended up having a small session tonight. Pretty annoyed with myself as I type this! I was sitting 3/11 on the bubble of the 20:15 BH and ended up being the bubble boy after I made a really poor call. Losing because of my own poor play is always more painful than losing due to a bad beat. Just one of those hands bvb where you really don't believe the oppo, I need to cut that out of my game.

I did finish 3rd in the 19:45 BH to only finish £6 down but it really should have been a profitable evening. I won't dwell on it though, it's not the first and certainly won't be the last poor call that I make along the way.

I had a rather amusing dig aimed at me on the final table of the 19:45. A polite lady asked me how the weather was at the seaside. I assumed she had seen my location, but before I had chance to reply she typed "because you're a donkey" (she may have a point if she had seen my play in the other game). I just replied with a smiley face. Ironically, minutes later she busted out after stacking off with 79o. The temptation to type "Pot Kettle Black, Bye" in the chatbox was very strong, but I just made a note whilst having a little chuckle to myself.

    Day 51.

Another session done and dusted, and just like last Tuesday, the highlight was winning a seat into the Summit.

I fared slightly better this time, making it to the latter stages and taking 4 heads for a nice profit. Unfortunately due to being slightly out of my depth at that level I was unable to push on any further and make it into the money after missing flops and being pushed off by the bigger stack. Still, it was an enjoyable tournament and it's always a pleasure to test myself against the really good players. It only cost me a fiver and it's pushed the bankroll up over the 1500 mark so I'm more than happy.

There was also a min cash in the Mini, which could have been even better if my AKs had managed to hold against the big stack's A3o. Maybe next time...

    17:30 - £5.50 BH (X £1.88 head prizes)
    18:00 - £5.20 Summit Sat (Semi seat)
    18:00 - £7.20 Main Semi (X)
    18:30 - £5.50 BH (X)
    19:00 - £7.70 BH (X)
19:15 - Summit Semi (Won seat)
    19:15 - £2.20 Deepy (X)
    19:45 - £11 BH (X £3.75 head prizes)
    20:15 - £11 BH (X £3.75 head prizes)
    20:30 - £5.50 Mini (36th £6.11 + £7.03 head prizes)
    21:00 - £110 Summit (X £159.38 head prizes)
    £3.60 Main All Ins (X)

    Start BR: £100
    Current: £1563.57

Possibly back for a later and smaller session tomorrow.

Great stuff Ryan, you are going along nicely.

Did you feel "comfortable" in the Summit?

    Thanks Tikay.

Yeah I felt ok tbh, I got off to a reasonable start which always helps. There was a 30 min period where I had railtard on my button which wasnt so nice, but apart from that I enjoyed it.

Certainly is. On a previous occasion that I had shared a table with him I saw him make a call for a good chunk of his stack with Jack high and he was right. What a player.

    Hi Ryan,

A few pages back I think you said you work for National Grid.

Does this mean anything to you?

Hi mate. Its not National Grid but a similar company.

Yeah I know a little about SF6. Its Sulphur Hexaflouride and it's used in switch gear for its insulation and arc quenching capabilities. It is a greenhouse gas however so obviously not the best for the environment. Also in the event of any switch gear failure (explosion) then the SF6 turns into a highly toxic and corrosive white paste requiring a specialist clean up. Again not good for the environment.

As for G3, I've never heard of it but from your post it looks like it's a far more environmentally friendly alternative to SF6. I'm yet to come across any switch gear using it yet though.

    Day 52.

A very tough but enjoyable session tonight. Just the one cash, but it was a half decent one, finishing 3rd in the Sheriff after getting in via an all in sat.

The only downside was that I didn't take a single bounty. It wasn't for the lack of trying and by the time we got down to last couple of tables it was always going to be tough because the chip leader was railtard and he knocked out 1/3 of the field.

I did have a glimmer of hope 3 handed when I got my JJ in against his AQo for a pot that would have left him with a bit of work to do and given me the chip lead, but the Ace came on the river and it was GG. I still think he would have clawed the chips back if i had won that pot anyway, he is a beast of the highest order. When I grow up I want to be railtard....

Still, £165 is a decent enough return and keeps things going in the right direction for now so I'll settle for that.

    19:00 - £7.70 BH (X)
    19:15 - £2.20 Deepy (X)
    19:45 - £11 BH (X £11.25 head prizes)
    20:00 - £33 Main (X £11.25 head prizes)
    20:15 - £11 BH (X £3.75 head prizes)
    20:30 - £5.50 Mini (X £1.88 head prizes)
    21:00 - £55 Sheriff (3rd £165.....no heads)
    £6 Sheriff All Ins (Seat)

    Start BR: £100
    Current: £1680.30

    Back on the tables tomorrow.

The only time I ever win a seat into the Sunday Major via the freeroll is the only weekend where I'm at an SPT. Typical.

    waller02 32170 3 Entry to £12,000 Sunday Major

I've got my excuse if I bust on Day 1 now anyway, it was so I could get home for the Major.

I don't know a) How many people read this
    or
    b) How many of those that do like Athletics

But that womens 400m final was sheer class, shocked. What a run.

EDIT: And now KJT breaking the British Record for Gold! (sorry I love Athletics)

    Day 53.

A good session tonight consisting of 4 final tables, including one win, as well as another final table bubble and a deep run in the Mini. Even the Mini could have been better if it wasn't for a one outer on the river, although that hand did play itself pre flop so I can't complain.

Tonight was my last session before my first live venture at the SPT as I'm not playing tomorrow night because I want to have an early night. I'm slightly nervous about playing live but at least I'm heading to Nottingham on the back of a mini heater online. Looking forward to meeting the forum regs and @Tikay10. Apologies in advance if I make any rookie mistakes on the tables!

    17:30 - £5.50 BH (7th £11.79...no heads)
    18:30 - £5.50 BH (3rd £51.71 + £4.22 head prizes)
    19:00 - £7.70 BH (X)

    20:00 - £33 Main (X £22.50)
    20:15 - £11 BH (4th £35.62 +£15.29 head prizes)
    20:30 - £5.50 Mini (15th £8.46 + £10.59 head prizes)
    23:00 - £11 BH (1st £98.05 + £44.60 head prizes)
    23:30 - £11 BH (X)
    00:00 - £22 BH (X)
    £6 Sheriff All Ins (X)

    b) 0

There will be no more Track and Field mentions, it's nearly over anyway.

    Hi Ryan
Your maths are a tad askew, at least one reads 😉
Was good to share a table with you last night in the deepy, well played building the bankroll mate.
I am the only one in the family who enjoys athletics, and the Rugby, so my watching time is slightly limited, thoughts on venue of the World Championship Athletics?
    Good Lick in Nottingham.

I think the 6k views this thread has had to date suggests you might have as many as 4 loyal readers, possibly even 5 at a push ;)

Great work on the challenge and I'm delighted to see the upward trajectory continue - deservedly so!

Best of luck at your first SPT. No need to be nervous, just relax and enjoy the experience.

Thanks Tom, likewise. I hope you went on to win. Your diary must be due an update, I see you've been making final tables for fun again :)

Yeah I'm the only one in my house who likes the Athletics too, I rewatched the 400m this morning, it was the fastest time for 36 years from a shock winner. Great performance.

The venue was a mistake. They had to start the Championships a lot later in the season because of it, then the athletes finally get to compete and the stadium is virtually empty. There is no atmosphere whatsoever.

Thanks mate. I'm sure I'll be ok after a few hands, I'll just copy what everyone else is doing.

Always a great read, and I'm sure there are many other lurkers who read but don't post.

Well done on your progress thus far.

I also enjoy watching the athletics :)
