That's terrific, well done Ryan & Melty.

Thanks @Tikay10. Back on Sky for a few nights now having a dabble on a few of the lower buy in UKOPS.

    Day 63.

With UKOPS starting I devoted my entire playing time to Sky. It was good to be back playing on here, it's by far the best site for micro MTTs, unless you enjoy playing 1000+ plus fields to bust out after 6 hours for $10.

I'll still be spending some of my time elsewhere for the reasons mentioned in previous posts but for the next week 90% of my playing time will be on here.

The bankroll is significantly reduced now but it isn't stopping me having a couple of shots at UKOPS. I will be playing all £22 non turbo/non rebuy BHs, it is UKOPS afterall. I'm not going to go crazy though and if things go badly and the bankroll hits the 1200 mark then that's it, there will be no more shots.

So, tonights poker. It could have been better but it could have been a lot worse, slightly down but nothing drastic. I stone cold bubbled both the 7@7 and the Orfy, both times dominating with QQ, against KQ in the BH and JJ in the Orfy. That stung a little but both hands played themselves and it's just one of those things.

The UKOPS tournaments were OK(ish) took a few heads, built a fairly big stack in the Megastack before losing a flip in the mid stages to halt the progress.

Reasonably happy overall and if the queens hold on the bubble of the 2 MTTs then it would have been a different story.

    Day 65.

The Sunday session is over even though I'm pleased to come away with a win, I'm also a bit annoyed with a mistake that scuppered my chances in the 9pm UKOPS.

I got off to flyer and was freerolling the rest of the session after winning the 16:30 BH. That's always a great feeling because it really eases the pressure for the rest of your games knowing that even if you brick the lot you're still going to be in profit.

It was a good job too because the next few MTTs were pretty uneventful, I either never got going or started to build a stack before running 2 pair into a set etc.

Then along came the 9pm UKOPS. It was a tough first table and a very slow start but gradually I got myself a few bounties and a decent stack approaching the money. Annoyingly, I then made an error with a hand that I should have 3b jammed with rather than just call, the result of which left me with 9bb which I then lost in a flip close to the money. The decent head prizes softened the blow but it was a good opportunity of a decent cash ruined by one mistake. We live and learn.

    Day 66.

A small and mostly average session has come to an end. Got very unlucky in the 5:30 BH for a big pot (AQ<A6 aipf) to bust me with a min cash, before saving the night slightly with a final table in the 6:30.

Couldn't get going in any of the 3 UKOPS that I played, so a small loss on the evening.

    Back for another crack tomorrow.

Wow, thanks for all the kind comments Ryan!

Great progress so far! I have been very impressed with your ability to take on new ideas and completely uproot things to try a different approach. Watch out guys, Ryan will be taking his rightful place on the leaderboard next year if he keeps up his current progress, I have no doubt!

Fantastic attitude and probably one of the best students I could hope for to be honest - if there has been progress then alot of it is to do with his ability to take on what has been said and applying to his own game. Well played.

With the changes Ryan has implemented, he should notice a higher ft rate, along with a higher GG in early game resulting in a higher overall winrate.Lets see how we go!

    Hi Waller

Sorry it's been a while since commenting in here but I've still been following your progress with interest. It truly is an impressive read from your commendable honesty about missing the SPT through to your continued solid results combined with a real plan for improvement. It sounds like you're gonna be a right PITA at the tables once Melty's finished with you :D.

Keep up the good work bud :)

I'm just telling it how it is Andy. What impresses me the most is that even when we are not having a coaching session you are checking in and asking how I'm getting on and if there are any hands I'd like to look at, even though you have a load of tables on the go. That extra time that you give is much appreciated, so thanks.

Hi mate. Thanks for the kind words. I'm not sure if I'll ever get to the same standard as the big hitters on here, but even after the 3 hours I've had with Andy so far I can feel an improvement. Things aren't going to happen overnight and it still feels strange playing certain hands a totally different way to how I've played them for the past 10 years. Sometimes I get it totally wrong, which is normal while I'm trying to adjust. I've never enjoyed playing as much as I do now though, so win or lose that's already a result in my eyes.

    Day 67.

Frustrating night tonight with my recent bogey hand, QQ, letting me down twice again when dominating for big pots. Once while already in the money in the 6:30 BH and then again for a big pot and bounty in the mid stages of the 9pm UKOPS. If they hold then I'm in great shape for a much more profitable evening, but it wasn't to be.

I did make the final table of the 7@7 to finish with a tiny profit but the overriding feeling is one of mild annoyance. At least I'm getting close I suppose and with a bit more luck at the business end the results might change.

    17:30 - £5.50 BH (11th £5.52 + £1.88 head prizes)
    18:30 - £5.50 BH (22nd £5.33 no heads)

Can I have kings or aces tomorrow please.

Really wasn't at the races today, playing well below my best in most games. I probably shouldn't have played after a hectic day at work and ordinarily I wouldn't have, but UKOPS doesn't come around very often. Anyway, I needn't have bothered.

Another final table in 7@7 did save the session slightly and I only ended up slightly down but in general it was one of those nights when you 3bet pre with KK, get 2 callers and the flop comes down ace high.

At least I can have an early night now and come back refreshed for the weekend games.

    Where do I start.....

The worst session of poker for a couple of months by a country mile. I've been sat here for 5 minutes thinking how best to summarise without coming across like a moaning sod, but that is going to be quite difficult. There will always be sessions when you brick the lot but they are always painful.

I obviously ran pretty bad, for instance when all in pre with AQhh v 64cc and managing to lose after a 9h7h9s flop. Poker is very frustrating sometimes!

It's not all run bad though, there were a few really awkward spots where if you're on the ball you fold but if you're struggling you call. A hand against @Jac35 springs to mind, credit where it's due he outplayed me with a great overbet on river. I think I missed a trick on the turn but should have folded the river as played, but when frustration has set in then I find it tough. I need to cut that out for sure. Certainly plenty for Andy to get stuck into on our next session!

Normally on a Friday I would have registered for the later MTTs but that would not have been a wise.

I can't play on Sunday due to a really early start on Monday, so tomorrow will be my last crack at a few UKOPS then it will be a couple of nights off. After which I will be going back to original brm friendly schedule.

    17:30 - £5.50 BH (X)
    18:00 - £4.80 UKOPS semi (X)
    18:15 - £2.20 Rebuy (1 rebuy, 1 addon) (X)
    18:30 - £5.50 BH (X)
    19:00 - £22 UKOPS BH (X £7.50 head prizes)
    19:00 - £7.70 BH (X)
    19:15 - £3.30 Orfy (X)
    20:15 - £11 BH (X £3.75 head prizes)
    20:30 - £5.50 Megastack (X)
    20:30 - £11 UKOPS (1 addon) (X)
    21:00 - £22 UKOPS BH (X)

    Start BR: £100
    Current: £1327.51

On a non poker note, I'm really looking forward to the rugby in the morning, it should be a great game. If we can reproduce the performance against New Zealand then it should be enough, but it would be foolish to write South Africa off. I just hope it isn't too tense as my fingernails haven't fully regrown after last week.

Well it appears that the @Tikay10 boomswitch does indeed work as thanks to a win and a final table in the UKOPS hyper I have recovered last nights losses and some.

To say I was relieved would be an understatement. Self doubt had seriously taken hold of me and another session like last night would have been a bitter pill to swallow.

Fortunately, the hands that were failing to hold last night behaved themselves and it enabled me to come away with a half decent profit. It would have been nice to have also won the UKOPS hyper but when you're 4 handed with an average stack of 12bb then you need the poker gods to be smiling on you.

    Relieved and happy though!

    23:00 - £22 UKOPS Hyper (4th £101.75 + £57.01 head prizes)

I won't be playing tomorrow as I'm up early for work on Monday. Also, my playing time on Sky in general will be limited again as I venture back over to Stars so I can get a load of MTTs under my belt for Andy to review, before coming back to Sky again for the vast majority of my playing time.
