    Ha, a most entertaining read.

As for Champions Day, looks like a day to keep the powder dry imo, though I may have to have a speculative dabble in the Balmoral after first seeing what the ground is doing.

    Cheers, @Tikay10.

Given I felt Roseman offered ante-post value at 25/1 earlier in the week, I had to press-up at the 33/1+ available yesterday. I was extremely happy throughout the race and thought I was on the winner approaching the two-pole.

Given how he rallied, and came again, once headed, it's possible he was beaten due to feeling a little lonely in front - he didn't keep entirely straight either, running away from the whip inside the last.

Tough on those who took the fancy odds and on the horse itself - given his need for soft ground and how difficult he is to train, Group 1 opportunities are likely to be scarce. Had he won yesterday, it wouldn't have been the biggest surprise if that were to be his final career start.

Nothing went right for Palace Pier. While I remain unconvinced of the validity of his 126 rating, he is clearly useful.

Sir Busker almost ended up in the car-park after veering badly inside the last, he did well to finish so close. As did Lord Glitters, would would've preferred a stronger pace.

Symbolize ran reasonably well in the Balmoral, however, he's clearly 6-7lbs too high in the weights to land one of these.

Working on the Melbourne Cup as we speak, hopefully have something of note to post in the next day or so.

Planning a full session of poker on Monday, all being well.

This evening's session will start with the Mini and the Mega, with third and fourth MTT's dependent on the time of my departure in the M&M's.

I may throw the odd dart at the UKOPS satellite.

One things is for certain, however; October starts HERE.

No horse racing business for me today, though felt there was an interesting runner the 7f handicap at Wolves (17:30). Sarah's Verse doesn't need to improve much to be competitive off her mark but, even at 33/1, I was worried enough about her draw to keep my power dry. It's extremely difficult to win 7f handicaps at Wolverhampton from stall 1.

She travelled well before, unsurprisingly, suffering traffic problems. I shall monitor her entries over the coming weeks.

Another back-number to note this evening may be the Dominic Ffrench Davis-trained, Thematic, who was 8th of 11 in the 19:30 (btn 5.25l - going well until short of room at crucial stage). The yard's runners appear to be over-performing presently and this was Thematic's first promising effort for new connections, having joined them last winter after been deemed surplus to requirements by Pascal Bary and Khalid Abdulla.

Last season, owner and trainer enjoyed success with Indeed (also purchased from Abdulla's French operation) and, while Thematic is unlikely to be as useful as him, he may pay his way during the upcoming AW season.

I would like to see the handicapper (incorrectly) drop both horses a pound or two after tonight's unplaced efforts.

Great news that Saffie Osborne escaped serious injury after her horrific-looking fall at Windsor earlier in the day. Having witnessed it live, I feared the worse.

Wolverhampton handicaps and the Mini - it can never be said that I shirk away from a challenge.

And the first hand of the evening was....

    72o.

Let us hope this doesn't turn out a microcosm for the evening.

    EDIT: I folded it.

Land at early bounty in the Mini after raising it up with 5h4h in late position (three before the button). I was rewarded with a flop of Q55 and an all-in from the player first to act post-flop.

I somehow managed to hold against his Q2.

This is all I ask for; for my 90/10's to hold up 90% of the time. Actually, I will sweeten the deal, I will readily accept 80% of the time.

The price for a sending off the Leeds-Wolves game was bigger than "usual" price for such an occurrence, obviously based on the clubs' relatively clean disciplinary record this season (just seven bookings between them in their eight league games, so far).

However, I am of the opinion that the man in the middle, David Coote, is a little twitchy, something the market was not taking into account - so ultimately coming to the conclusion that it is a bet, just.

A booking in the first 15 minutes gave hope, however, it does appear the two sides are just too clean currently. Just 11 fouls committed in the first half.

Yes, the game lacks spark at the moment so it's hard to see too many cards if it continues like this.

Yes, I agree, @Tikay10. Perhaps the goal would've kicked matters up a notch, had it stood.

I've crashed out of the Mini, but I am prepared to cut myself some slack.

After a missed straight-flush draw I found myself down to 1,300 chips.

Play on the flop led me to the assumption that I was in front at that stage. So, being of that opinion there is no need for me to fear the Deuce on the turn.

I realise the pre-flop limp has led to the trouble, but, this was a limp-happy table where it was possible to see plenty of cheap flops.

The important news is that I am back in love with the game, which is all-important. Everything else, including results, is a mere by-product of such.

Yay. It's a life long love affair for most of us. We have our tiffs & ups & downs but always make up. And the making up is the best bit.

Undoubtedly. Plus, it relates directly to performance and, in turn, results.

Michael Oliver was the VAR man, and he's pretty lenient (which, generally, I am behind).

I guess, whoever is on VAR duty is almost as important as the man in the middle?

The Reload is the third MTT of the evening.

I am in for £15.30 at the break, after a losing a four-way with AK, and I have a stack worth £10.30.

Really horrible spot in the Mega, which resulted in my sticking 3,600 before folding.

This was an especially tough decision as the player all-in had previously stuck in 50-bigs pre-flop with AQo.

    But, it's still a fold?

An equally tough spot faced in the Reload soon after.

A heart turn and Ten on river is probably the worst run out for me.

    It's a fold, again, though?

Faced two other vomit-inducing spots, since we last spoke.

Firstly, in the Mega, where I am forced to fold Aces to an all-in on JJTT9 board.

    Then, in the Reload...

Late start tonight due to witnessing Millwall soaring to 4th place in the Championship.

A mixed evening on the ante-post football front, for me.

My 33/1 about Ole Gunar Solskjaer to win the "sack race" was done no favours but my speculative League Two Golden Boot wager was given a boost with Tristian Abrahams scoring for Newport. This was his 7th goal from just ten starts this season though, unfortunately for those on the aforementioned bet, this was only his third in the league.

I'm on at 80/1 each-way four-places, so the bet has legs, at least.

Starting with the Reload tonight, doubly buying-in just before the break. Little to report so far.
