I enjoy a purple patch in the Mega, winning 6 of 7 hands, almost tripling my stack.

    Up to 23/33.

The Reload is going well enough, but just suffered from doing the right thing at the wrong time...

The raiser had been pretty tight to this point, so I decided on playing my hand slow.

This appeared a stroke of genius when the hands were revealed, had I played my hand fast pre-flop, I would've cracked the Aces with the gutshot river.

Analysis should never results driven, however, with the ends rarely justifying the means in poker. My instincts were correct, and, going forward, that is all-important.

Enjoy a slice a luck in the Reload though, in my defence, I had little option but to shove with my stack...

Cash in the Reload, but only in 17th. Going down with AK vs 99.

I fought long and hard in the Mega, surviving for three hours without reaching the top half of the leaderboard at any time.

I was card dead and low (7-bigs) when I shoved with A7 in the SB, after Matt had min-raised on the button. Sadly, I ran into the Jacks in the BB and Matt's Ace-King.

    Timing.

There was one hand from the Mega that is worthy of mention. A blind on blind cooler produced this...

With runs in the Reload and Mega doing wonders for mindset, I now tackle the Midnight Express.

LIVE UPDATE: +900 chips in the first hand. Great news, as it means I will have something left when I lose the inevitable all-in during Level 2.

In his groundbreaking Book of Poker Tells, Mike Caro explains how poker is in a constant state of flux. Analysis and theory is incomplete without full context.

24 hours ago, this would've been a post bemoaning another cooler. Instead, it's something very different...

Despite racing to an early chip lead in the Mid Ex, I suffer a nightmarish level to the right of a station that could not miss.

I eventually get it in for around 12-bigs with Ah8h and get a call (obviously) from my aforementioned nemesis holding Js8s. My opponent receives immediate service on the flop.

The three early bounties I claimed were a silver lining.

Feeling unfulfilled, I head to the £11 BH (00:30), where I am currently in the process and calling off those who are hitting inside draws. And so I should, after all, they paid more than enough to do so. ;)

Nice to see the Royal though.

A royal flush is still a buzz. nh.
  • mushroom1mushroom1 Member Posts: 645
Despite an early double-up, I failed to cash in my final tournament last night, the £11 BH at 00:30.

I "gambled" in an all-in three-way coup where I had second-pair and a flush draw vs two opponents with top-pair. The dealer found two little briquettes for the turn and river to send me packing.

I've run appallingly over the past seven nights, though, thanks to the odd bounty and a cash or two, the P/L wasn't as bad as it could have been. I am hoping the next seven days brings far more justice.

I do not want any favours, all I ask is that I win 50% of races and 80% of my 80/20's.

I am working on this week's York and Newmarket's cards so volume may suffer this evening, and it may be a case of single-tabling.

Kicking the night off with the Mini.

It's amazing how brutal the game can seem at times, you just have to hang in there.

Anyway, find the winner of the 16.50 at York on Friday & you can repair a lot of this week's damage, it's a really competitive affair.

Indeed, @Tikay10, one just has to ride it out.

I actually like Captain Claret in the 4:50 but don't wish to take a chance at just 4/1. Although a winner on g/s, they were happy to run him on firm last time (and 'Bath firm' at that!), so it's a bit of a guessing game with regards to his optimum going?

Ice Eagle has improvement to come but she was a non-runner due to soft ground in August, which is a worry.

Bobby Shaft's win last time appears to have been underrated and his fibresand run suggests conditions shouldn't hinder.

I'm waiting on a couple of huge 'Autumn Doubles'; Cambridgshire winner (Majestic Dawn 40/1) going on three in the Cesarewitch - one of which was not declared at the 48hr stage today. I shall be having a saver or four on the day!

Blimey, gl with that double on the Cesarewitch, that'll be huge if it comes off.
  • mushroom1mushroom1 Member Posts: 645
First big (ish) hand of the evening:

    Money in first: Check!
Best hand: Check! (AJ v QT)
    Result: Check!

And, as this was against a smaller stack, a bounty to boot!

    Dig out the bunting.

Cheers, @Tikay10. Coltrane and Australis are my two but, being totally honest, when placing the doubles, I concentrated for more on the Cambridgshire than the Ces. I still like them both, just that I will be doing extensive work on the race over the next couple of nights.

The Ces has been a great race for me in recent times, so fingers crossed.

I heard the fold-warning alert as I was finishing my previous post. I hurridly finished the sentence, hit "Post Comment" and called up my table......to see a couple of A's and a ticket on red!

With fingers quick as a pianist, I clicked on the x3 or x4 button, I didn't care which.

In this one hand I experienced panic, fear, hope, dread, elation, relief and bewilderment.
