I'm aware those figures are disputed, but seeing that no-one is seemingly able to conjure up figures that aren't subject to questioning then I think we'll have to go with them for the time being.
If a respected body can provide alternative figures then I'm all ears.

The Government being sure about something means the square root of diddly squat.
They can't even order in date PPE.

Pfizer/BioNTech Covid vaccine approved for use in UK to be rolled out next week

The UK has become the first western country to license a vaccine against Covid, opening the way for mass immunisation with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine to begin in those most at risk next week.

The vaccine has been authorised for emergency use by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA), ahead of decisions by the US and Europe. The MHRA was given power to approve the vaccine by the government under special regulations before 1 January, when it will become fully responsible for medicines authorisation in the UK after Brexit.

The first doses of the vaccine will arrive in the coming days, said the company. The UK has bought 40m doses of the vaccine, which has been shown to have 95% efficacy in its final trials.

Matt Hancock was pathetic this morning, when he couldnt answer the question about wet pubs opening and allowing their customers to order a takeaway, to be delivered to the pub.
This obviously gets over the fact that pubs that dont do any catering have to close.
If the criteria for having a drink is that you have a substantial meal, does it really matter where it comes from?

Get Vaccinated Or Lockdown Will Last Longer, Warns Jonathan Van-Tam

Social distancing measures will have to “last longer” if people do not take the coronavirus vaccine, England’s deputy chief medical officer has warned.

Speaking at the Downing Street press conference on Wednesday, Jonathan Van-Tam said people “have to take the vaccine” if they want lockdowns to end.

“Everyone wants social distancing to come to an end — we are fed-up with it,” he said.

“Nobody wants lockdowns and to see the damage they do. But if you want that dream to come true as quickly as it can come true, then you you have to take the vaccine when it is offered to you.

“Low uptake will almost certainly make restrictions last longer.”

Van-Tam also warned of a “tidal wave” of infections if people decided to “abandon caution” too soon.

Simon Stevens, chief executive of NHS England, said the bulk of vaccinations will take place in “January through to March or April for the at-risk population”.

And he said delivery of the vaccine to care homes cannot happen yet despite residents being clinically the top priority for a jab.

We're beating the flu, too: NHS could DODGE a winter crisis as influenza cases fall 90% and first Covid-19 jabs arrive in UK

Fears that the NHS will be overwhelmed this winter are receding, with official figures revealing the country is virtually free of the flu virus. The first batches of the Covid vaccine arrived on British shores last night (pictured left, a refrigerated truck leaving the Pfizer factory in Puurs, Belgium) - bolstering hopes that an end to the pandemic in sight. With coronavirus infection rates falling across every part of the country (right) and every age band, experts are now optimistic we are past the peak of the second wave. Crucially, flu rates - one of the key drivers of pressure in the NHS every winter - are at the lowest for years. It means the terrifying prospect of an NHS winter crisis coinciding with a deadly Covid surge - a key justification for continuing restrictions - is now looking far less likely. Away from Brexit, the i weekend says the government is revisiting the idea of immunity passports to establish whether greater freedoms could be granted to people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

It says Downing Street officials are also considering short-term "freedom passes" to allow anyone shown to be free of the virus to meet friends or attend events.

    Sociopathic media rules OK!

The above articles were written by politicians.
So what? And amplified by the media.
    Politicians lie, remember 💡

    Two of them were Tories.
So nobody will be allowed to move around the world without notification of having had a jab?
And you rubbish Vespas conspiracy thread?
UK's Covid vaccine minister suggests bars, cinemas and football stadiums could BAN Brits who haven't had jab as he admits No10 is looking at 'immunity passports'
Baroness Dido Harding told NHS bosses her team was 'looking at' the plans
They have been touted as a way to get swathes of society 'back to normal'
Travel companies signalled their support, saying it could kick-start the industry

Nadhim Zahawi MP warned businesses may start requiring proof of vaccination in the same way they now ask customers to check-in on the NHS Covid-19 app using QR
    codes.

Australian airline Qantas hit the headlines last week after it said that all those wishing to take its flights would need to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

The carrier's boss, Alan Joyce, said the move was a 'necessity' and it was likely to become a 'common thing' for airlines around the world.

He warned, during an interview with Australia's Nine Network, the airline was looking at ways to change its terms and conditions for international travellers.

He said: 'We will ask people to have a vaccination before they can get on the aircraft for international visitors coming out and people leaving (Australia) we think that's a necessity'

    I'm down with that.

More than happy for airlines, countries, stadiums, pubs, cinemas etc etc to want proof of vaccination.

Gives people the freedom of choice; those that want to get life back to some normality can take the vaccine and crack on, and those anti-vax nutjobs can choose to refuse it and face the social consequences.

So if the boss man/women of a company doesnt feel the need for a vaccine jab, then they won’t be allowed into their own offices/ factories?
Here you go, wrong yet again.
    The vaccine passport.

The Covid ID: First look at new NHS vaccination identity card that patients can use to prove they've had the jab

Michael Gove has denied the Government has any plans to create a 'vaccine passport,' but the NHS has created a card for people to keep a record if they have received the jab, warning them in bold: 'Make sure you keep this record card in your purse or wallet'

Images have been shared of a card patients will be handed to prove they have received a Covid-19 vaccine, with space to write the name of the jab and the date it was administered. Up to four million doses are expected to be given by the end of December, but Michael Gove has said the Government has no plans for a 'vaccine passport' scheme. It comes as over 80s, care home workers and high-risk NHS staff will receive the first jabs as part of a mass roll-out tomorrow.

Nearly half of care home staff WON'T take Covid vaccine as bosses call on ministers to make jabs compulsory among healthcare workers

NEW Nadra Ahmed, chairman of the National Care Association, said as many as 40% of carers could choose not to take up the option as it is rolled out over the coming days.

Vaccinating Britain will cost £12bn, the NHS will need 46,000 new staff - and still HALF of us 'won't get jab by end of 2021', report reveals

The National Audit Office, which monitors government spending, said the plans assumed that just 25million will receive jabs if enough become available. This would suffice for the priority groups - the over-50s, frontline health workers, those in care homes and people with underlying health conditions. But it would leave younger adults waiting until 2022. Its report also warned that the taxpayer could be liable to pay legal costs - on top of the £11.7bn cost of developing, buying and manufacturing the vaccine - should anything go wrong. The figures come as coronavirus cases continue to climb. Daily cases hit 18,540 yesterday, up 50 per cent on last Tuesday, although deaths were down. Why WON'T they say how many have been given jab? Fears of missed targets and low uptake among the elderly as calls grow for Covid-19 vaccine figures to be made public

Following the approval of the Pfizer jab, officials have confirmed only that 'tens of thousands' have received their first dose, suggesting it could become the latest in a long line of missed targets.

Pimlico Plumbers to introduce 'no jab, no job' work contracts

Pimlico Plumbers will introduce a “no jab, no job” policy requiring all of its workers to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Charlie Mullins, Pimlico’s founder and former chief executive, now chairman, said the company’s lawyers were drafting new employment contracts for its 400-strong workforce to include the vaccine requirement.

EU leaders to discuss plans to roll-out Covid vaccine passports - while Britons who have received jabs will be offered passports in Government-backed trial

I just got a text at 1:33 PM inviting me to book for my jab.

I clicked the link provided to book a slot.

How far into the future would you imagine the bookings were for?

First slot 35 minutes away !
    2nd slot 1 hour away .

    Now that is efficient.

    No jab, no job'
The Financial Times reports some employers are drawing up "no jab, no job" contracts, after vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi said it was "up to businesses" whether they could require their staff to get vaccinated.

According to the FT, Barchester Healthcare, which runs more than 200 care homes, has said it will not hire new staff who refuse a vaccine on non-medical grounds, with Pimlico Plumbers announcing a similar policy.

One lawyer tells the FT such clauses in employment contracts are more likely to be defensible in sectors such as care settings, because of the presence of vulnerable patients.
