    I watched "Partygate" last night.

    Nothing at all memorable about it. Am not mad keen on "docudramas", much prefer documentaries.

    And whilst we all agree that Partygate was a disgrace, the TV show sort of overdid the bias, gilded the lily too much. I thought it was poorly acted & produced too.

    3/10

    I thought that it made an impact by alternating between how Downing Street seemed to be unaffected by any of the rules, not only the parties, but social distancing, no mask wearing, etc, and how the general public felt that they should adhere to the rules, despite the trauma this caused in many cases, and also the difference in the fines imposed on Downing Street staff, in comparison to the general public.

    I would agree that due the amount of press coverage, over such a long period, and the coverage of Sue Gray report, has probably left many members of public feeling bored with the story.

    @HAYSIE

    Well yes, but we knew all that already, it never told us anything we did not already know.

    The lead role (the somewhat naïve young lady who I assume was the whistleblower) was a bit odd too, not sure what she was supposed to contribute.

    If you & I lived together, there'd be fights 24/7 over who controls the Remote. Luckily, I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon, unless we both eventually end up in the same Care Home.
    I think her role was probably to show that any reasonable person would be uncomfortable with the goings on.

    Don't know if you've mentioned it Tony @HAYSIE but "State of Chaos" started last night, with the excellent Laura Kuenssberg at the helm.

    Nadine Dorries, of course, made a complete tit of herself.

    So good, only the BBC could make it.

    Great review here;

    Episode 2 is very good.

    @HAYSIE

    I'm going to watch it after tonight's football, Tony. Can't wait. I watched Episode 1 twice actually, it was so good.

    I believe Ep 2 is Boris & Dominic Cummings dominated. Should be a fabulous watch.
    Episode 3.
    Boris lies probably destroyed any public confidence in politics/politicians, and scuppered any chance of the Tories winning the next general election.
    I find it incredible that despite the obvious proof that Boris continuously lied to everyone, including Parliament, that so many MPs still express support for him.
    Who knows how long it will take to regain any confidence.
    In the previous episodes Steve Baker comes across as an arrogant pr1ck that thinks he singlehandedly removed a couple of PMs.
    watched all 3 and I fully believe Dorries must have a life size Johnston portrait above her bed....what a desperate sycophant she is.....

    This will definitely appeal to Fauda fans.

    Don't forget that the Steve Coogan/Saville thing is on tonight.

    I suspect it effectively be just a vehicle to promote Coogan's admittedly brilliant skills as an impressionist, but we'll see.

    Wish it was possible. It was reported that all of Series 2 would be available as a box set from last Wednesday. Not available yet.

    First look image released of new BBC legal docuseries The Firm

    A first-look image of new BBC factual series, The Firm, has been released, ahead of the hotly-anticipated show landing on BBC Scotland and iPlayer.

    The ground-breaking series follows internationally renowned lawyer and campaigner, Aamer Anwar, and his team of lawyers, who are committed to fighting for the underdog in a bid to ensure justice is served.

    The Firm provides a captivating insight into the inner-workings of a high-profile and extremely high-pressured law firm, akin to a real-life version of hit US legal drama Suits – with the Manhattan setting swapped for Glasgow, where Aamer’s company is based.

    Across eight episodes, The Firm follows Aamer as he embarks on the busiest year of his career. Working across three public inquiries, Aamer represents the family of Sheku Bayoh – described as “Scotland’s George Floyd” – at the public inquiry into his death in police custody, as well as the Scottish Covid Bereaved at both the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry and the UK Covid-19 Inquiry – the biggest public inquiry in British history.

    But amidst the pressure and public scrutiny, The Firm also explores Aamer’s personal story and the trauma that drives him, as well as his close relationship with his three children. It also showcases the camaraderie of his loyal and hard-working team, all united by one goal: to challenge injustice at every turn.

    The Firm will land on BBC iPlayer and broadcast on BBC Scotland next month. The series is produced by STV Studios for BBC Scotland. It is commissioned by David Harron, Commissioning Executive for BBC Scotland. Executive Producers are Craig Hunter, Creative Director of Factual at STV Studios, and Joe Sharp.

    I also watched Ep 1 of "Beckham".

    Wonderfully produced, high quality stuff, could not fault any of it. If you thought you knew everything about Becks, think again.

    Only watched Ep 1 so far, will continue tonight, after the football.

    Provisional rating 8.5/10.

    Beckham is number 1 on Netflix today.
