Don, you have o find a way to disconnect yourself emotionally. Given your prolific output here and in the clinic it is clear that you focus incredibly on your hands (which is really good), but then almost take it personally when it goes wrong (which is not).
Maybe you should try playing for a week / 2 days / 1 day maybe - without putting a single hand or comment about a hand up, and see if this helps you feel it less as you will be talking about it less - just give an end of period update - good things only.
I have the opposite problem and have been playing higher stakes recently to feel more pain from the variance to make me focus more. Vice-versa I would suggest you stay at NL4 because you can definitely prosper at that level, whereas one bad day at higher stakes might put you on tilt again.
Good news, the Don is making a comeback to nl4 very shortly, less than 24 hours after announcing his retirement. Lets hope he goes well tonight or it might be de ja vu later this evening. MON THE DON Posted by DOHHHHHHH
After a long discussion with JJ i think i may have been a little quick to judge. stilll wary of the whole variance thing. but we shall see.
I really needed a good session today. Just one to get some confidence back. And i got what the doctor ordered. Some hands.
OK just one losing hand, and i dont think i done anything wrong here. Opponent played it so weird i said WTF when cards where shown to myself. Standard.

there a few more winning hands but wont bore you. like abve they all pretty standard.
Closing Balance: £83.26
Really needed this session today. recovered some of that brutal session from last night and reminded myself what NL4 is all about. Still need to grips with the variance thing but i think that might just be hardcoded into me.
ok so the way varience works is as follows, if you have the best hand and you are raising and get called, and yet they are drawing to theres and decide to risk it, if its a inside straight they have 16% chance of hitting so 1 in 10 times they will hit, so 1 in 10 you will lose but 9 times out of 10 you will win.
A flush draw usually is about 36% chance, thats nearly 1 in 3 times you will lose and 2 in 3 times you win
to get outdrawn after the flop its about 12% chance, so your gonna lose again 1 in 10, but your winning 9/10
This is where varience comes into play, if your making the right choices statistically, then you are gonna win more then you lose, but you will lose at times, if you let it get to you then your gonna get put on tilt where your making bad calls and so you lose more then you should, when this happens go take a break and come back when your in the mood for poker.
I say this message because your one of the first people that i heard about when i joined up to sky poker, and you seem to be having a tough time but from what i hear people have a lot of respect for you, so keep making the right plays, and statistically you cant lose

really?
also ty. the problem i have is i struggle to dea with losing. comes with years of winning at football and gaming. serious issue. i even get rattled if some guy comes up behind and stabs my caracter on cod.
lol dont worry your not the only one i hate it too, thats why we take a break, we need to take ourselves away from it, because you get annoyed that villain has taken your chips on a bad beat, then you start to make dodgy calls just cus its him, and you end up losing even more to said person, so for your own sake its best to leave the table forget about it and take your money away from him when its not at the forefront of your mind.
Thats what i do and if you been keeping an eye on the monthly profit one, you might notice im constantly changing mine, if i take a big loss on the cash tables i go away come back and play a SnG or something, i never try to go back to the same table cus my table image is going to be poor, unless it was a seriously bad beat
YES really lol, if i can remember the words that were used "he is the Legend of the NL4 tables xD

A buy in and a tad down is nothing to be consearned about i felt i made the correct desisions all round. And that makes a differance. I feel i could have broke a profit at the time but looking back at HH i dont think i could have given the cards, and the lack of a good table selection (i was on all 4 NL4 tables running and not many fish on any).
Just had a cpl of hours on the NL10 - 3-4 tabling - gonna carry on posting to try and give myself an incentive as i,ve not been in the mood to play much recently
On this hand I really thought the river bet would push him off a lot of hands as he was pretty passive and felt he had to put a bet in on river as he,d missed - Didn,t want to fire on a bet on the flop due to so many players but maybe cudda raised turn , but looking back at it I don,t think i did to much wrong
That was the only hand over £3 loss tho and ended almost a buy-in up
BR £150 BR £249.84 ( Not received my £30 cfp yet but will add it to my BR when i do )
Thought i might have to drop back to NL4 after losing 3 buy ins after a quick 5am session
Not sure if i could have done much different here apart from a call on the river but i thought i had the 3rd person in pot beaten and went for the lot, thinking i,d get something back at least

I don,t normally post this many hands but had forgotton about a cpl of these until I went to bed and it was doing my head in trying to work out where the erlier losses had come from so got up and went further to 3 hours previous on hand history - Only thought i,d been on for 2 - time flies
This one I shudda called instead of raising again and trying to get it all
In this one the guy was playing most hands and chasing everything in sight , but I don,t think i played it optimally and shouldn,t have let him get to the river - still harsh tho
KQ pre ok, not sure about flop raise then call off on draw seems gambly to me.
KK bet more on flop and turn but unlucky,
J10 I personally don't like call OOP, also this is why you should top up ALL THE TIME, flop I bet more about 90p,turn bet slightly more, river call not sure probably ok with what you've put in.
45s can't really see the point in rasing smallish OOP just call and see cheap flop, 30p bet is too small at least 65p for me, unlucky again.
AJ pre ok, flop I don't understand check then minraise surely better to just call down, turn bigger if you put him on draw, river not sure again I probably fold.
