I suggested that Don play that MTT, it wasn't "instead" of playing cash, it was alongside the grind.

I'd always tell BR builders to spend as much time grinding as poss, but if they're confident they can play an MTT alongside cash (Don said he was) then it's a very good idea to take shots at vvvv weak tournys.

It was a £5.50, £200 gtd tourny, not gonna break the bank, and Don was easily in the top 5% of players, IMO.....

No reason at all why he should have seperate bankrolls, I don't understand that theory at all tbh.

Doesn't matter if he'd won it, or bust first hand, I'd encourage him to play it again, coz it's soft as sh!t (as long as he's rolled btw)

Nice result, play as much as u can while the momentum is in your favour.

And don't quit unless u go broke.

Reason I split them is I like to have cash as one sole focus and would rather it not be affected by constant MTT entries where you often are always losing and win rarely. Obvz with a £392 cash roll I'm fine for MTT's up to £3.30 but I have a seperate roll at about £370 for them and just like it that way lol

If I get to NL20+ at any stage then I might consider merging them but only once I am consistent at the level for like 20k+ hands and then go in for regular £11 MTT's but that is pretty longterm goal.

I dont seperate my BR fwiw. I said to Dohhhhh about withdrawing my winnings for this but he recommended i didnt. FWIW pod, all tourny wins over £100 i withdraw 50% and give 10% to charity. I also wont consider major tournament wins as enough to move up a level.

E.g. if i won the primo tomorrow id probably withdraw most of it. However i wouldnt move up to NL10 yet as i dont feel ive comfortably beat NL8. I had a pretty rough day today where i had problems with two opponents. Now both of these opponents i believe i have a massive edge on, and discussed different ways to play them with 2 or 3 different players privately. I did get mixed responces but in fairness it all added up to the same thing. Ill be much more confident in playing them with notes.

a mean it's all different m8, it's an individual thing. I've never met or spoke to Don in real life, but I talk to him on msn pretty much every day, I know what he's like with poker, inside out......

The general rules r exactly that, just general guidelines......

But it's different for each person.

If I was starting out from 40 quid like Don was, I wudnt touch a cash table till I got to £200, I'd b playing HU sngs......

But the best thing about having a bankroll, is being able to manage it.

Now he has 25+ buy ins for nl8, and 40+ buy ins for nl4, he has options!

    He never had those before.

Well chuffed for him, but he needs to realise the job is nowhere near done yet!

    Night session

Another pretty hard session. But one ive taken alot from. I really struggled early and  a lack of hands, and when im getting them holding was also an issue. However im looking at the positives here. Again ive taken a tough session and grinded out. ok so i didnt finnish even break even but at one point i was 3.5BIs down, i recovered to just 1.5BIs down.

    Anyways

Background on this hand. The villian had been at £33 not that long ago. He'd been seriously LAG and making a number of moves similar to this one. When he called my cbet i was pretty positive he was going to make a play like this and decided i was calling on any turn card. Turned out it was a pretty horrible one, but my gut served me well

QQ - You had your reads so fare play, I'd probably fold lol

J8 - You have a FH but a quite low one, might just flat myself.

    QQ - nh

AJ - Flush did come in but he could have worse aces and think he's good.

77 - calling 96p to win £7.62 presumably you're looking for a set which is bad odds as you know, on flop he pot bets and same on turn, that's what I would do with AA/KK/QQ/JJ type hand so you're hoping he has overcards which seems risky to me even against a psycho.

    JJ - run better.

no problem lumping a BI into a MTT.

Just keep the money bundled together but just keep a note on you cash BR within that, not that difficult.

The only seperation I have is my live BR, all my live winning just goes to the missus ! Well maybe not all of it :D
    O darling I only won £40, 200 in my back pocket :)

Keep going Don and yeah them 250G are soft, just avoid the bad beats are you laughing :)

Pretty much the same. Seems easier to get the stacks in tbh, and bumping into alot of guys id noted as NL4 regs. On thw whole however i think you find more laggy players, which i prefer anyways

    9th Oct

    Afternoon session

Tried a £2 primo sat . Never got going and buested with my strongest hand, although i played a total of 2 hand in that. However this didnt deter me from going onto the grind. It again started pretty badly. But about an hour in i went onto a 5 min heater. I rivered a flush, flopped 3 sets in 4 pairs. Although being brutally honest i had missed with my previous 20 pocket pairs.

    Anyways hands

This was a complete misclick pre. However post, with the KQ guy flatting down it was giving me the correct odds on both flop and turn. River then was magic.

    The_Don90 Win Full House, 3s and Queens £6.10  £19.57

    Closing Balance: £196.54

Decided before i started if i got above £195 id enter the semi for primo. As ive done that im going to take a crack. So actual balance is £184.54. This with the DTD tomorrow will also seperate the Cash money and MTT money i think while still keeping me comfortable at NL8.

NL8 does seem pretty much the same as NL4 still just with a few LAG players thrown into the mix. The more im playin the more im enjoying it. Starting to feel a little more comfortable playing and im taking a little bit from every single losing and winning pot. Really starting to detach from my emotions while playing cash which in previous attempts was a pretty major issue.
