Evening Session

Played a freeroll last night came 6th for £3 used that to enter a UKOPs high roller mini sat. Didnt do too well. but never mind wasnt really that fussed anyways.

Onto the session in hand. Typical tale of a session of two halfs. I played for 90 mins and after an hour i was around 3/4 buy ins down. I wasnt playing well and i wasnt making good desisions at all. Anyways i realised i wasnt playing well and knew i could use that to my advantage IF theyre paying attention. I recovered strongly.

I hated this river. I know the opponent used to play NL4 and was pretty good for the NL4 level. Nearly folded river then little voice said to me, you have to call.

Wiiiiiii back over £200 and really starting to get the jist of NL8. I think the first few sessions i may have just not settled in. A little bad luck and a bit of bad play. Im starting to remove this from the game and get going again.

Yh that last AK is pretty gambly but if you have proper reads it should be ok but still I'm not a massive fan espeically as he shoves over your pretty decent cbet so knows you have a good chance of calling, obvz ul to lose.

go go go Don 200+, my advice crack NL8 then move to NL10

Kinda hurts when you run bad with £200 @NL10, give yourself 3-4 buy ins at NL10 if it goes good you never look back )

i am constantly running bad each time I have moved to NL8/NL10 so I am ensuring I am over rolled while dabbling in NL8/NL10

Quite annoying how I can't get past NL8 )

Rancid ive taken one small session at NL10 i was waiting on a NL8 table having a space so i only was there for three circles and i didnt play a hand but made some notes, want to be at around £230-£250 before i move on up.

Yeah your probably right there Dudeskin. Really should be waiting for a better spot.

I was dabbling in NL8 then with NL10 - now I am back to NL4

So I would advise having 230-250 like you say for NL10 so you can handle a bad start )

Yh I'd say £230 is plenty, main thing though is if you have a really bad start that puts you back below the £200 mark don't be ashamed of moving back down to NL8 to build it back up (fwiw I think you're well capable of doing that) as a lot of the time it's all about getting on a heater and riding it for as long as possible and likewise if God decides to hand you lots of variance early doors just drop down where the losses won't be so hurtful.

Although i mainly browse through this thread, i have to echo a couple of points.

I first moved up to NL8 probably as far back as 3 months ago with a roll of $160. I did well at first but then the dreaded variance hit and i had to drop back to NL4. I then got to $160 again and had another shot which failed miserably after just one short sharp horrific session. Took me a while to get over it but i decided to grind up to $200 before stepping up again. This seemed to work well as i was'nt afraid of the variance this time and its gone quite well and now nearly at $250 which is my next step to NL10. I find working at 25 buy ins is better than 20 buy ins, but thats just personal opinion. Its worked for me so i believe its the correct way, especially if multi tabling.

Rancid, i have bumped in to you a couple of times on the tables, just be patient and it will happen.

One other tip for NL8, when you get 100xbb all in against another big stack with KK vs QQ, they usually bink the Q on the river. Also happens with AA vs KK, King always arrives at some point, and as for full houses, just fold em, it saves you from tilt! Just a beginners guide as this seems to happen at NL8 alot! :-D

Ive taken a couple of bad beats at NL8 but tbh most of the buy ins ive lost have been my own stupid doing for over complicating things or from basic errors. These where the reasons i started at the bottom again and at cash. I know im acapable mtt player and id more than happily grind out 25-50 tournys a day, But doing so wouldnt improve me as ive done all that before.

Ive noticed a massive differance in my game of late not just at cash but in tournaments aswell. I very rarley go in behind now. That was something that used to be all to common. Does that mean im playing well or im on a heater, time will tell. But i really believe ive changed my learning curve over the last 6-8 weeks.

Dudeskin i really want to catch you tbh, but i also know ur a BR nit and therefore unless i become a BR nit i have a major advatage over you. In fairness i want to remember how withdrawing feels so i may take an extra little while at NL10.

All day and 15th Oct morning review

Mixed and wierd results today. I started with a UKOPs sat again 4 seats into super sat then 5th place cash. 5 people where left when i got invited to a live game and tbh, i was happy with the cash so i donked off and took my £7 happily. Now i know what people will say to this, when i registered i had full intentions of wanting the seat. Until there was 8 left this was my full intention but the offer i couldnt refuse. The live game was a typical live game.

Anyways i came home and done a small grind. Nl8. I must have been around the £230 mark at one point but was feeling good and didnt want to end. A few wierd hands later i was on tilt so quit. Anyways

Little disappointed as i know i was at least 2 buy ins at one point. Which means i was hovering around £220. Now i know that doesnt sound major but that would mean i was just 1 Buy in away from NL10. i took it quite well for a lone hand. Much better than i used to. It was a string of hands that got to me. This was the only loss of over £3 but i know there was a few of around £2.50 quite simialr v shortys. I have alot of banter with batkin tbh, and i think that helps.

I dont know why i can win on a daily basis but every saturday night i get my rear handed to me. I know i didnt play particularly well tonight but still looking at the hands, i made 1 mistake, one i probably could have got away from. thats the differance to £16 alone, fold them and im in profit, then the A2 doesnt happen im a buy in up. Ewww. Really.

Therefore i know on one table i have to sit with £15 but i dont believe that kind of value can be walked away from. If i lose  lose but really i think its a risk worth taking.

I've plaeyd it all up to NL30 and you're better than most at them! Seriously, they're insane. You're a million times better. Patience my friend, patiernce. You WILL beat every limit up to 25/50 before it takes thinking! It'll take patience but you're capable Don. Just be patient, that's all it will take. You're a million miles above mate. ffs don't give up bcos of bad beats. That's alright for fools like me, you're better. You're fit for working your way through the levels Don. You really are.
