Final Table tourney 4 players lrft - one massive stack as he has hit some proper jammy rivers --- under the gun the bigstack limps in---- I also limp -- the big blind (short stacked) checks----flop comes JQ2 all diamonds --- I have Qhearts and 10 diamonds----I check (plan reraise)--- the BB shoves all in about 6k---the big stack calls which I took as weaknness---so I shoved all in 18k and got instantly called by the big stack. Result was BB bluffing A rag I had top pair Q's with 10d kicker Big has two pair J's and Q's no diamond I am thinking damage limitation--one more diamond should do it----- turn and river blanks Q should I have shoved all in or with hind sight should I have called only???? I was banking on a flush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted by hijimhere
Hi Hi,
I stopped reading when I got to this bit.
under the gun the bigstack limps in---- I also limp
Do not limp when on Final Tables! It's realy a bad thing to do. I mean, really really really bad! Everything else in your Post stems from that.
Best to solve the initial problem than the consequences of it!
Anyway, how did you end up - did you win all the monies?
What advice could you give regarding level of playing, in live play at a local casino i usuall sit down with £100 once or twice a month and have made a very good profit over last several months. i consider myself to be just a average player and by no means good. On here i have decided to risk a deposit upto £100 per month - in keeping with good back roll management i have been playing the 4p - 8p cash tables allowing for around 14 buy-ins. however i cant seem to make any sort of profit and am just above even after countless hours of playing,i am basically finding that i am coming up against massive amounts of bad beats where players just dont seem to want to lay down there hand regardless of good correct sized betting and get lucky more times than my cards seem to hold up so my question is - Would i potentially do better (or see a lot less air calling and hoping for luck) if i where to use my monthly bankroll of £100 and buy into 10p-20p cash games giving me only 5 buyins but by playing players with a better knowledge of the game and encountering less constant calling equalling lower percentage of bad beats?
I have been told by fellow players in the casino that low limit tables result in a higher percentage of calling with nothing which then equals a higher percentage of bad beats
Would love a definitive answer to this before i end up having to use what little winnings i have achived to replace my monitor after i put my fist through it lol

Hi Mr Fish, great question, truly.
No, is the answer, grind your way up the Levels, & learn to beat 2p-4p first. Players at that Level can & should be beatable, but you need to think it through. They WILL call with atc, & so they WILL hit a fair few flops.
So we must adjust our game accordingly. Tighten up, play less hands, play good starting hands in good position, & you'll beat the game. 100%.
The maths don't lie. If you get your money in good enough times, you will win over time. Fact, fact, fact. Take a beat or two along the way, sure, but it's a game for grown-ups, & a few beats never did anyone any harm, in addition, they test our mettle, character, backbone, spirit, bravery, & resolve.
We can't have our cake & eat it. WE WANT loose calls. We just need to be man enough to accept we will lose 3 or 4 coups in 10. I'll take that, 24/7!
The other bizarre theory which 90% of poker players seem to believe - I think they must have read it in a comic - is that the lower level games are hard to beat, but it's easier when you go up the Levels. Nonsense! Man Utd might not fancy an away FA cup tie at, say, Yeovil, but they'd rather face Yeovil every week than any Premiership Club. Only poker players could truly believe that weaker opposition (Low Stakes) is hard to beat, but tougher opponents (Higher Stakes) are easy-peasy. You could not make it up!
Good luck bud, get grinding, & remember, get it in good, & you'lll be OK over time. The maths cannot lie.
Hi Thanks for your reply, i play my live cash games at my local gala casino in stockton which is only a few miles south of last weeks SPT event in newcastle unfortunetly work kept me from a trip up there to watch the recent event. Thank you for your advice on my question i will continue to grind it out for a few more weeks and hope things begin to go my way but am still at a bit of a loss at to how i can turn a decent profit from higher cash live to bearly break even on lower levels on here. Is it fair to say even playing tight aggressive etc which is my style but have have been doing even more so for the last few days now (and a lot more than i do in the casino) that generally on the lower limit tables you will have a lot more raises and even shoves called by other players simply beacuse of the amount of money involved is still minimal to most of people sitting at them so therefore increasing the overall percentage chance of taking a badbeat or outdraw as the streets come down? I know this would obvioustly mean that everyone playing at these levels would recieve a equal amount of badbeats and out draws but as the stakes go up do the loose calls generally reduce thous lowering the overall amount of badbeat and outdraws each player would recieve on average Thanks Ali (Mrs FISH)
I know that there are only two more chances to qualify for Team Sky Poker but will the team be around for some time or will it be disbanded three months after the last three new members get in?
Hi Tikay I know that there are only two more chances to qualify for Team Sky Poker but will the team be around for some time or will it be disbanded three months after the last three new members get in? Thanks Will Posted by Wilhelm
Hi Will.
Essentially, it's a Commuunity initiative & a commercial proposition, so although I do not know the real answer, I guess it will continue for as long as it fulfils it's design criteria. Maybe 3 months, maybe 3 years, or anything in between.
To the best of my knowledge, it remains fit for purpose so far, so my guess would be that it will continue for a while yet.
These things tend to have a finite shelf-life, & go off the boil eventually, so yes, it will terminate at some stage. Probably.
Total Player is scheduled to return later this year, so running both in parallel might - or might not - be a bit of a stretch. We shall see.
Part of the TSP conundrum which vexes everyone is trying to find a formula which makes it fair to all, gives as many as possible a chance, but which ticks the commercial boxes, too.
As you'll know, there has been a lot of positive feedback about it, but there's also been a whole raft of moans & groans, "it's not fair". It's not quite as easy as some might think to come up with something which suits everyone. Everyone has a different take on what's "right", but almost nobody tried inverting the problems to better see the solution.
There's also been some unforgiveable misinformation deliberately Posted about it, which irks somewhat, to be honest.
We at Sky Poker need to look at ourselves, because try as we did, it's clear we failed to some small degree to communicate adequately what it was all about.
Equally, players need to look inward, too, Rules can't be changed 3 months into a promotion, & the T & C's were there for all to see from Day One. Players can't partake for 3 months & then complain, life ain't like that.
There you go, an unofficial appraisal of where I think we are with TSP.
Hi Tikay I've decided to try and take your advice and become more tight and aggressive in play, rather than calling to see flops. However, I dont think the current magnolia colour scheme is helping, being such a passive colour. I was thinking of Angry Red with some St Andrews flags to promote both tightness and agression. Any views? ;-) Regards PF Posted by PenFifteen
Don't forget St David's Day, & the Welsh. Their flag is yellow.......
Great to hear total player will be back soon. The last one was running just when I discovered poker (and sky) so will be good to see another season when I actually know what's going on this time
chek my hands sky not playing fair at all now trying 2 get rid of me is it true sky rewards new players 2 get hooked be surprised if this gets posted Posted by shann
Hi shann
I'm not sure what Sky would get from trying to get rid of you. Have you considered the possibility that you need to improve your game? There have been several players who have complained about the site who have posted their hands in the poker clinic where other players have pointed out the flaws in their game play, and those players have then gone onto improve their play and their enjoyment of the game, why not give it a go and see what happens.
Hi Tikay, I was playing in a bounty hunter tournament and in a 3 handed pot both I and an opponent had broadway straight and knocked off the third opponent, we split the pot but the other player got the bounty. I assume because he had more chips than me but this hardly seems fair, if we chop the pot we should chop the bounty surely. If you could explain this I would appreciate it.
I dont think tikay would be able to answer your query, i recommend you speak to customer care, i agree with what your saying but dont know the rules really. Tikay probably will know but personally i think its better to speak to customer care

From what i gather the first person to call his/her all in gets the bounty, atleast that is what has happened when i've been in the same boat.

Hi Tikay, Some time ago Sky Poker started making changes to some of the tourneys on here,at the time the forum were told that Sky had a host of new tourneys that would be rolled out over the coming months . These new or changed tourneys would be for all levels of B/R, please tell me if i have missed something but what has happened to these changes at the lower level. If i have missed these changes i will hold my hands up and say sorry for wasting your time.A few weeks ago Pokertrev put forward on the forum an idea for some new Deep stacks, i posted on this thread asking what the chancers were for a D/S that could fill the gap between the £22 d/s and the £5-50 d/s tourneys for example a D/S of say £11, as of now i dont think there has been any responce from Sky Poker. Tikay any chance of giving the powers to be a gentle nudge to see if they have even seen this thread, one of the Sky Mods said that he had passed the thread over to the suits . Kind Regards Mick.
I sent you a pm regarding apprentice comp prize . take your time in sorting it , as said previously by your good self, time & date will need to be convenient to both parties.
