I stayed away from punting on this game. The expectation on the Dutch is massive this year and if they are going to falter it could come in this first game, although i still think as the tournament goes on they,ll get stronger

The Spanish game couldn,t have been any worse for my bets. I blame the manager - ridicolous formation that you could see after 15-20 minutes wasn,t working. Tactics all wrong - trying to thread it through the mi8ddle of defence (against Italy) . David Silva standing about up front
So when you go 1 down and you,ve Llorente on the bench with 29 goals this season why not take of one of the best players in Fabregas and put Torres on - brilliant idea

Eventually a bit of luck - Just wish i,d backed St Ledger to score anytime as well as 1st scorer. He always used to get forward with PNE and scored a few in his time there

I fancy Russia and Greece today, but with the way things have gone so far this tournament so far i shall be having £20 on Poland and £20 on Czech Repulbic, and £10 on the double
Since I last posted I've had a few more bets. I had a Poland/Russia double @ 4.25/1 on the first day. At half time I didn't fancy Poland any more so put a bit on a Greece or Draw/Russia double @ 14/1 to end the day well in profit.
On the second day I noticed that the Czech Republic's next game was against Greece. I'm not sure how the Czechs will fare against Poland but I really fancy them to edge the Greeks, so I lumped a few bob on the Czech Republic to finish second in their group at 5/1. I'll probably back them not to qualify if they win today. I could do it now and still be in profit as long as they don't win the group (unlikely imo).

When I put the bet on I was expecting Poland to run over Greece and be a few up at half time. As it happens, I thought both teams played poorly. Greece are a lot better than their first half showing suggests. This will sound really stupid but as a nation Greece score very low in individualism. The result is that they are more likely to pull together and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. They come back from behind a fair amount. England score high on individualism btw, so we arguably have better players as they strive to be the best, but as a consequence they have bigger egos.
Also I couldn't see Poland creating any great chances based on their first half showing and they looked content with a one goal lead.
