todays 3 sessions didn't go so well all for different reasons. session one was no different to the monday session 1, unlike mondays session 1 today i just had 5 nl4 and overall the outcome was 69p
session 2 was a session i just shouldn't have even bothered with. part of the problem with that session is i spent more time that i first thought talking on a blog and as it was already 7pm i didn't bother planning my session as i knew springwatch started 8pm to make matters worse the table aggression was very high so the mind needed to be fully focused. basically that should not have been a session and i lost £13.22
session 3 was a good but unlucky one really, maybe it's revenge for my quad destruction on monday. what ever the reason i basically started bad and was suffering from lots of cooldowns. i did manage to still make profit of £2.93.
so session 1 not changed much session 2 planned badly session 3 a cooldown with me at the bad side.
today was a miserable day, a day which i should have just stay off the tables before i took my bath in other words i was never relaxed enough. session 1 i had my mam over and she can talk for england, the last think i want is people talking in my ear all day and so what started off as a break even session suddenly changed into a bad session and saw a loss of -£10.39.
session 2 i did do a few sats in that one and the signs were clear when i went out of the semi that i was not really in the mood to play poker, i did for a minute look as though i was going to chase losses but for once i controlled myself and didn't go overboard instead i just used what was deposited for MTTs(£30) leaving my BR alone. i did loose -£8.03 on some cash tables.
session 3 the poker games were prepared just as i should have them prepared, i was relaxed and calm right from the start and the outcome was not a loss, instead i got a what i aim to get, profit £29.21.
overall the day has seen a loss of -£15.61.
but without MTT (deposit was used) i made a winnings of £10.79
the last my cash reached £1K it was just luck really as i used MTTs mostly, the cash profit played little part. This time i should be able to stay with cash most of the time and avoid too many MTTs as my last few days has taught me to spread my playing time out over the whole day rather than playing the same table for 4 hours in the evening.
today was another good day and i had 2 sessions, first session saw profit of £1.68, the second session was much better with a profit in that session of £15.41. my overall points total for this month is 5125.
well i thought i wouldn't have time for a 3rd session but grove was knocked out after 8 rounds so i decided to take an extra session before bed. the session was going well on most tables apart from on the nl10 where a lost £6.75 but overall i made a profit of £5.60 so my total today is £22.69.
sunday was a roller coaster ride, i began the day with a profit of £9.85 in a 1.5 hour cash session. After a lunch break i choose to go into a sat for the summer roller semi (£5.30) and was unfortunate in that one, then i did a timed MTT and 2 SnGos(£2.20 DYM 3.30 6max), the SnGos didn't go well and i lost both but i wasn't so bad in the timed MTT and got a profit of £13.12(£18.62-£5.50)
Later i did another sat for the late reg semi a £3.30 timed MTT and 3 more SnGo (£3.30 DYm and 2x£2.20DYM). the £3.30 DYM and both MTT didn't go to play this time my luck seemed with the £2.20 DYMs which both saw me pass the bubble. My worst part of the came from that cash session and i had a very heavy loss in that one of -£20.73, i was doing well in a £750BH at the time so just left the tables and focused fully on the BH which started of well but changed when the blinds moderate, the table still had mostly limpers and calling stations so again i lost most of my chips in that period.
After having a good break and getting myself relaxed i tried one last cash session, the session itself was planned originally to be a short one but it wasn't too long before i choose to remain on the cash tables for a long session as the night was a night for money to be won really since the cash tables were packed with calling stations. the start of the session was ok but i then had an hour of bad aggression and it caused a lot of losses including one of my very good cash stacks. what i then decided to do was switch onto various tables and it wasn't long before i got back to winning ways again overall that session won £6.89
before i finish i have a question about getting chips in the mid and late stages of an MTT
Q. against the fit and fold or loose passive type will i stand more chance of winning a hand if i raised 9h6h on the button than i would do by raising AK OOP?
today was a day where the winnings come from MTTs with me managing to pass the bubble in 4/7 MTTs and winning one too.
the first one was a sat into the 6pm semi which i was able to go past the bubble of too, the main mind was not so good with my hands always getting rubbish cards but i still didn't loose my moneys worth because i had won £33 due to me getting into the main via an early semi. the other MTTs i did were the orford league the mini and the £750BH, out of those 3 Mtts i got past the bubble in the mini finishing 13th and the £750Bh i went all the way and won it.

the cash tables didn't go well and so i didn't spend that long on them knowing i was filled with confidence from my MTTs, overall the cash tables saw a total loss of -£12.26
so my day has finished like this MTT £211.98 cash-£12.26 total £199.72
Today I didn't play any poker, most of the time has been spent on reading fully about bankroll management and discipline.
Wednesday I was down to my last £20 and decided to just try a nl20 cash table as I had over £150 cash to come from the C4P promo, the nl20 table went very well and proves to me that I have certainly got a good cash game in me.
The time I won orford league and finished well in a BH the next day, i got a good BR but went over the top playing MTTs and lost most of it, I managed to make a good cash sum from a Thursday night main event and reached got myself a BR of 1K, I lost that going overboard with MTTs too. Now i challenge myself to change this bad BR management once and for all because if I don't, I will have to stop myself from playing poker altogether because the last two times I had a good BR lost, I have been putting lots of deposits into my account causing me to start all over again.
I say to people that poker isn't gambling, well it is gambling if I do what I have done on the last two occasions, so from sunday things will change.
Good luck. Good BR management is imperative if you want to play this game and make money. I know its not all about making money but a lot of our enjoyment comes from winning AND making money.
Its never a sign of weakness to drop down levels, its actually a sign of strength. Set small goals and be disciplined.
Echoing the posts above - it is tough though to play with more bankroll strictness, given it reduces (short term) winnings as much as it does losses. It's hard not to have your head swayed by posts and stories of people spinning £10 into £1k+, especially if you know you ARE capable of that big bink... it's just that variance can quite easily mean it could take tens or even hundreds of bullets before you get the big results you deserve.
A BR of £200 is probably good enough to work at NL10 given you are already a reasonably competent player, with NL8 / NL4 there if you have a bad run early on and drop to £150 ish or less.
nl20 could be returning earlier than i thought, the MTT money on friday had allowed me to fully return to nl10 again, i took a break away from poker on saturday and my return has seen the BR make another massive leap. This time it was the UKPC promo that did that leap, i got into the quarter final via the rake promo, i managed to get through into the semi, as i wasn't likely to make it into the UKPC itself, i instead choose to register into the final manually just before the bubble of the semi "i did keep a close eye on the timer finals timer". and so i won the £220 prize money and deregistered from the UKPC final itself. I was thinking maybe register into the main but then thought to myself why waste a growth in BR.
the day itself started off not as good as i thought it would, i had a cash session on nl10p and that saw me get a loss of -£10.68.
i took a second cash session after having a break and that didn't go into loss but it didn't get myself into an overall winnings just yet as this session was a winnings of £6.07.
whilst playing the UKPC sats i also played on 2 cash tables and they were able to get a winnings total of £7.52.
my final session of the day was a nl20 session and that session was a great one itself. i had 1 bad table in that session and it saw me get a loss of -£26.69, but that was just 1 buy ins worth of loss. i had a table profit on the other hand of over 2 buy ins (£42.28). overall i managed to get profit of £50.02 in that session.
so my day has been MTTs- £211 (£220-£6 direct sat-£3 AI sat) cash- £52.93 (-10.68 £6.07 £7.52 £50.02) overall £263.93 points so far 1161
today was back to being a winning day on cash. i did manage to get off to a good start with an early semi again getting me into the main event, like fridays main event i again was out with in the first hour. the other MTTs on friday might have got a good winnings but today i only got small wins of £13.39 in mini and £3.10 in DTD 2. DTD 3 was an MTT i was expecting to get as far as the final table but then things changed when i lost a good size stack with AKs vs AQs AQs gets flush. so overall my MTTs were at a loss of -£3.21
the cash was a total different story, my first and second session were both sort of break even sessions i lost £7.20 on one table but won £8.77 overall on 3 other tables so won £1.57 in the first one. The second session had one big loss of £26.30 on a table but their were two tables in that session that give an overall winnings of £24.33 so i lost £1.97. The final session i had was once i was down to my last two DTDs and in that session i managed to get lots more profit than i got in loss, the only table loss was a one of -£3.10 i did have to rebuy my whole stack at the very start but then hands were hitting me good and so that table saw a win of £2.15, the 3rd table i was playing is where the money was mine, that table got a winnings of £22.14
so overall today it was session1- £1.57 session 2- -£1.97 session 3 -£21.19 MTTs- -£3.21 points total- 1283
the hand that left me not much luck in the main was this. am i right to call knowing my best hope is he has the flip?
as the world cup has kicked off, i'm not going to have much time spent playing poker and the times i do play poker it will most certainly be cash.
their was a match on during this session but it wasn't the match i really wanted to watch so i just played a session and listen to columbia on the radio.
the cash session itself saw a few mistakes and also some misclicks so i think now that even listening to the commentry might be a wrong thing to do whilst playing.
their were 3 big losses (-£29.52, -£20.55, -£25.79) their should have been a 4th one when i did a double barrell £6 (£13.80) with KQ on the A turn, the villian went all in (£31.66), i knew i was behind and the only river cards that would get me a win was one of the 4 Js but still put the last £11.86 (£43.52) and the so called nasty sky river give me that very card. Their were lots of cooldowns too.
overall i've lost -£25.46 time now for the group D matches. come on ENGLAND.
tonight was a night which the profit i made on cash was thanks to cooldown rather than good play. Their were 2 big cash wins, the reason i got them two cash wins was a 77 getting set on flop which was very wet, when i raised my set on the flop the opponent reraised with his KK knowing i might be holding straight flush draw and we went all in on turn. The other table that got a big win was a table where i had JJ, I did a open bet, then called a 3bet IP and the flop came 10h 10c 5h, he checked then i checked back, on a brick turn he did a bet £4.20 and i decided to just call. When the river came another brick the villian shoves and i decide to make the hero call thinking he had either slow played the strong hand or tried to scare small and middle pairs into folding which it turned out was the case and he showed AK.
So the overall day was £60.79 £25.52 and losses of -55p -£4.16 -£31.04 -£2.60 and -£4.52 their was a lot of MTTs today too (DTD 1 2 3, main via sat and mini and the £750BH) i had 2HP in the main event and also got £14.50 in DTD 3 with a 5th place final table finish. so overall i have profit of £6.05 in MTTs.
the poker today tells me that the tables in the afternoon are much tighter and the betting structure is a more aggressive line, the evenings are the total opposite and i'll see playings limping more frequently and their is also more fit folding, the betting and raising seems to be min raising and button clicking.
so the story today is my first session was a very good one which saw me getting the value i want to get when i'm hitting the sets and suited connectors. overall i managed to get a massive profit of £122.76. the second session was a very heavy loss of £60.
althought that seems a big loss part of me is thinking that the decision to withdraw £80 this afternoon might be partly to blame as i was now seeing a drop in my BR and then i had a few early cooldowns in the evening which make me feel annoyed about withdraw that other £80.
my day overall has finish as a profit but the withdrawing of the £80 made it seem like a loss as my BR is below £500 again.
i seem a bit confused at the minute and it's mostly relating to how i can get the maximum value with my sets without it cause a player to fold too much.
yesterday when i saw this hand i said to the player with 99 how could you not see that you were now highly likely to be only getting a call from JJ? what he said was that he was would have had possible draws such as Q10 108, J9 and top pair which i do understand in some ways.

here were two of the hands that i had today which seem to make these so confusing is it best to just call the flop and then do a donk lead on the turn rather than Ch/R the flop?

the villian in both these has got a lot of aggression in him and he has a habit of being more aggressive than normal. his open raise prefop is 4BB
I think i remember the 2nd hand vilian. Being oop makes it tricky i thinnk sometimes i will raise because he is aggro and sometimes flat without the 3rd player i think its a flat and let the guy hang himself ...hopefully except when we check turn and he checks behind sigh. because its 3 handed though i think raise is fine although it makes us look crazy strong and probably never bluffing just hoping to get him to call of with is fd combos.
The first session today was a mixture of everything; I had 3 cash tables, a DYM (5.50), a 6 max (5.50) and a few sats. The cash tables had the same dynamic today as those I played on yesterday and overall i got a loss of -£15.42. The DYM i didn’t get the luck and the table was playing really tight the blinds had got to 100/200, then came AK which i raised on the button and am made to take the risk when the BB jams, sadly i missed and his 99 suvived. The 6max was a completely different story, the blinds were still 40/80 and the bubble burst leaving me with 2900 chips and the other player with 6000 chips then i got the double with 1010 vs AQ which survived and i remained ahead from then on so won £19.50. The satellites all failed so i lost £16 overall there.
When the sky poker live started i did a master cash session and that session was a session that has changed my attitude completely in regards to being raised. Hands such as sets are a hand i will want to get the maximum value from but as i will not get them regularly i should be generally happy to see weak passive players and be glad to win lots of small pots in the long run. The biggest pot that i won in that session was suprise suprise not a set at all, it was AK that i raised OTB and when the flop came Ah 10h 8c i’m donked a bet size of £1.30 and a limper calls so i did a raise and the person in the BB calls then the limper shipped the rest of his stack and we both called, 4c came OTT so i did a bet of £10 and the donked calls that then when the river came 7d i decided to check thinking he’ll either have hit a straight been trapping me with his monster or missed a draw which it turned out was the actual answer as he showed QsJs. Overall that session saw me with a profit of £69.22
After having another break i went back onto the tables for one final master cash session and that session i feel was the monster action packed session of them all, to start with i had a very good heads up session against a player who would do a 3bet with hands such as 67s, the hand i had at the time was 44. The flop itself came 2h 3h 5d which he then cbet/call then when the turn came 2s i made a cbet of £10 and faced jam from him so i was now left with a difficult decision whether to call £25.30 (pot £87.06) or fold, my decision was to go for the call as i wasn’t totally certain he had an overpair also if he did i knew i had A 6 or 4 as outs the river card itself didn’t help his and so i won the hand. That session overall was an astonishing one which i managed to make a grand total of £177.89 with two table winnings of £169.20 and £93.88.

cash- £52.93 (-10.68 £6.07 £7.52 £50.02)
overall £263.93
points so far 1161
the cash was a total different story, my first and second session were both sort of break even sessions i lost £7.20 on one table but won £8.77 overall on 3 other tables so won £1.57 in the first one. The second session had one big loss of £26.30 on a table but their were two tables in that session that give an overall winnings of £24.33 so i lost £1.97. the hand that left me not much luck in the main was this.
am i right to call knowing my best hope is he has the flip?
their was a match on during this session but it wasn't the match i really wanted to watch so i just played a session and listen to columbia on the radio.
the cash session itself saw a few mistakes and also some misclicks so i think now that even listening to the commentry might be a wrong thing to do whilst playing.
their were 3 big losses (-£29.52, -£20.55, -£25.79) their should have been a 4th one when i did a double barrell £6 (£13.80) with KQ on the A turn, the villian went all in (£31.66), i knew i was behind and the only river cards that would get me a win was one of the 4 Js but still put the last £11.86 (£43.52) and the so called nasty sky river give me that very card. Their were lots of cooldowns too.
overall i've lost -£25.46
time now for the group D matches.
come on ENGLAND.
So the overall day was £60.79 £25.52 and losses of -55p -£4.16 -£31.04 -£2.60 and -£4.52
their was a lot of MTTs today too (DTD 1 2 3, main via sat and mini and the £750BH) i had 2HP in the main event and also got £14.50 in DTD 3 with a 5th place final table finish. so overall i have profit of £6.05 in MTTs.
£49.49 was todays total.
so the story today is my first session was a very good one which saw me getting the value i want to get when i'm hitting the sets and suited connectors. overall i managed to get a massive profit of £122.76.
the second session was a very heavy loss of £60.
althought that seems a big loss part of me is thinking that the decision to withdraw £80 this afternoon might be partly to blame as i was now seeing a drop in my BR and then i had a few early cooldowns in the evening which make me feel annoyed about withdraw that other £80.
my day overall has finish as a profit but the withdrawing of the £80 made it seem like a loss as my BR is below £500 again.
yesterday when i saw this hand i said to the player with 99 how could you not see that you were now highly likely to be only getting a call from JJ?
what he said was that he was would have had possible draws such as Q10 108, J9 and top pair which i do understand in some ways.
is it best to just call the flop and then do a donk lead on the turn rather than Ch/R the flop?
wp tonight.
My finish total for the day is £244.19
