In Response to Re: Horses to follow 2013 Flat Season : Danchai 06/7/13  Sandown 14.40 Just a Hamilton maiden to his name, but still unexposed and did well to chase home Roserrow in a C&D handicap last time (Gaul Wood third). Has a 2 lb pull for that defeat, and can't be dismissed. unplaced Settled in 10th, driven on outer over 2f out, stayed on from over 1f out, nearest finish

    Danchai
    10/8/13 Haydock 2.20
Lightly-raced gelding who proved better than ever back up in trip when beating stablemate Stencive by a neck in the John Smith's Cup at York last time. Up 7 lb but may still have more to offer.
    Unplaced
Tracked leaders, pushed along struggling to hold place and held when not much room and hampered over 1f out, soon eased (op 7/1)

    Nine Realms
    10/8/13 Ascot 12.55

Looked most promising in maidens early last season, scoring at Leicester in May, and wasn't given an unduly hard time when mid-field in a York handicap last month. Should strip fitter for that.

Winner Made all, ridden and joined approaching final furlong, stayed on well under pressure in closing stages (op 4/1)

Slade Power 22/6/13 Ascot 3.45 Progressive when winning 2 listed races last summer. Bit disappointing in Group 2 over C&D in October but back on track when third in Group 3 at the Curragh on return. Still lightly raced. Unplaced Awkward leaving stalls and slowly away, took keen hold, held up in touch in midfield, ridden and effort 2f out, no impression but kept on inside final furlong, no threat to leaders (tchd 12-1)

    Slade Power

    11/8/13 Curragh 4.15
Up-and-coming sort who took another step forward when landing 5f Group 3 here gh in June. Excellent third in July Cup last time and obvious player despite giving weight all round.
    Winner
Always prominent, close 2nd halfway, headway going best to dispute 2f out, pushed out to lead over 1f out, stayed on well

    12/8/13 Thirsk 7.00

Some strong form to his name in 2012, winning 6f maiden at Yarmouth. Best run this year when 1¼ lengths second of 8 to Royal Guinevere at Doncaster last time, and capable of building on that.
    unplaced
Dwelt, soon chasing leaders, upsides over 1f out, no extra last 50yds (op 3/1)

Fared only a little better in this headgear combination last time. 2nd Tracked leaders, ridden to lead 2f out, soon drifted right, kept on, headed final 40yds (op 3/1 tchd 4/1)

In touch but ridden 3f out, headway 2f out and led over 1f out, soon edged left under pressure, headed and found no extra final 110yds (op 6/4)

Able to dominate against the stands' rail when making all at Ripon in June. A middle draw made life difficult in the Great St Wilfred on Saturday, but no surprise if he's involved here.

Very exciting prospect. 2nd Raced keenly, tracked leaders, challenged from 2f out, ridden over 1f out, one pace and held towards finish (op 8/15, tchd 4/6 and 8/13 in places)

    Telescope

    21/8/13 York 3.05

Highly-touted colt who won a 3-runner minor event at Leicester by 24 lengths on his belated return. Failed to land the odds in a 10.4f Group 3 at Haydock earlier this month, though 1½m should suit.

    Winner
Tracked leaders, took keen hold, quickened to lead over 2f out, edged left inside final furlong, driven out (op 11/8)

Got much closer to Dawn Approach at Royal Ascot having met trouble, and worth a chance to reverse form now. Winner Steadied and dropped in after start, held up in last piar, closed smoothly to track leaders 2f out, switched left and effort just over 1f out, strong run under pressure final furlong to lead well inside final furlong, pushed out towards finish (op 5/2)

    21/8/13 York 3.40

Impressive winner of the Craven and produced the best performance by any horse in Europe this year when defeating his old rival Dawn Approach in the Sussex Stakes last time. Untried over this trip.

Took keen hold early, settled in rear after 1f, driven 3f out, never a threat, weakened and eased over 1f out, soon behind (op 2/1)

Most impressive when winning the Lingfield Oaks Trial on return, and found only one to good in Epsom/German Oaks since. This looks tougher, but she may just have a bigger effort in her.
