We are now at the mid point of the year and this last month I have played very little poker due to work and family etc. I did think it would be a good idea to have a quick resume of my results on SkyPoker for the first half of the year.
Plan for the 2nd half of the year, inspired by Waller02 and Duesenburg is to start with £100 and stick to MTT's. Will only play £5 and below until we hopefully get to £500 and then would start adding in £10 until we hit £1000 where I would introduce £22 and The Main. Problem has often been that I have had to withdraw some or all of my roll whenever I had any success but things are looking pretty healthy on the financial front and I don't forsee any reason to have to do this going forward (famous last words).
Footie season is drawing closer and good to see Villa have made some sensible signings with youth and attacking intent looking to be the plan for Deano to keep us in the promised land. Would love to see Mings, Phillips and maybe Butland get over the line. Also keep seeing rumours of Cahill, wages probably too much, and Tzunabee on loan again. If we were to get all of those I think we would really need to look at a second striker and this is the area where there seem little or no rumours. On the plus side we have sold a record number of season tickets and the owners are looking at regenerating the area behind The North Stand. Just hope they don't start messing with the stadium too much as it is beautiful as it is. Could perhaps do with the outside of The North Stand having a right good deep clean but apart form that doesn't need touching.
Work is work and we are now on the dreaded countdown to stocktake which is 2 weeks today. I am also on countdown to my summer holiday. 29 shifts to go!!!!!!!!
When gez_bear 3bets pre flop, cold calling behind with AKo is not a good play. With a 31bb stack you really should be jamming instead and feeling pretty happy about it too.
Playing £5.50 bounty hunters with a £100 bankroll is pretty dicey from a BRM perspective. If you're playing too cautiously with that at the back of your mind then you'll have a far better chance of success if you play lower and build the roll up more conservatively so you can always be making optimal decisions in game.
Best of luck and I look forward to following your progress

I maybe looking at this all wrong but if I shove my AK then I am only going to get called by a better hand from GezBear. On the other hand if I call I may well get someone behind me to squeeze shove and I can call it off. The trouble was that somebody shoved but then someone else called it off. I really wanted the optimal chance of doubling up. Looking back you are probably right in the fact I should just shove.
Last couple of sessions haven't been the best although I do feel I am playing quite well at the moment but just not getting the breaks. Always worry when I feel like that as I sometimes think you lull yourself into a false sense of security and perhaps we aren't playing as well as we can. We will hopefully fair better tonight in what is a very small session of just 4 tournies as I have to be in work for 6am tomorrow, another chuffing visit! Mings has now officially arrived at The Villa and if remaining fit is a key signing for us. We are also being quite heavily linked with Cahill and would love to see them two at the back for us next year. We are still being linked with Phillips from Leeds (they would of signed more than us) and also Benrahma and Maupay from Smith's old club Brentford. It is the forward line that really worries me currently as we are going to be relying on an unproven young Brazilian, Kodjia and Hogan, neither of whom have ever really looked Premier League class. The problem is I just don't see who is out there, available, affordable and proven at this level. There has been the odd rumour linking Sturridge and although on his day he can be lethal I don't know whether we really need to be relying on a player who spends more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. In Deano we must trust and hope he pulls something out of the bag as I am sure he will be aware as anyone as to how light we are in this position. Emley AFC had their first friendly of the season on Saturday a 2-1 away win at Hall Green United. Hopefully this is the start of a good season as there are high hopes of a promotion push under a new and forward thinking backroom team. I'm hoping to get to a couple of friendlies over the next few weeks as they are at home on a couple of Friday evenings and a Tuesday evening. Once I have been able to assess them I can give you my thoughts for the coming season. As for Villa it will be all about survival. Don't know if anyone out there can help but I am having a problem with my car, a 13 plate Audi A5 Sportsback Quattro. All the sound from the radio, sat nav and phone when connected has stopped working. I also cannot receive a MW signal. Looking online it would appear that the amp may have gone and my local garage has found one on ebay for a couple of hundred quid compared to the £800 after an initial investigation of £200 that Audi are quoting me, and that's just for the part not including fitting. Question is will it need coding and if so will that have to be done by Audi and at what point do you think sod it and look for another car, and if I do that will people check the radio when I am looking to part ex.
this morning as at 6pm last night having regged for the evening schedule I had the princely sum of £4.65 in my account. How wrong I was, after managing a 5th in a £400BH and 3rd in The Mini the bankroll is in a far healthier place. Was really pleased with how I played The Mini and looking back I can only think of 2 major errors I made during the tourney. Reaching the last 10 I was constantly one of the shorter stacks and never got the magic double up I really needed, so was really chuffed with how I managed to ladder up. On FT i had AK and AA when stacks were getting relatively shallow and on both occassions got a walk. Sometimes its not the cards we hold but the hands are opponents have at the critical moments that can determine how we finish. Congrats to the winner @jack100 who I thought played really well on the FT. Playing 2 tournies now, just bust the £2.20, £50 Turbo BH when my QQ wasn't good enough on a J high flop to my opponents JJ. Still in the £50 Omaha HiLo, but not for much longer I don't think. This afternoon, as is the norm on my days off, I will be taking Willow out for a good walk and then heading to The Grove to meet our lass for a couple post work. Depending how that goes I maybe back on the tables tonight. On countdown to our holiday now and just 22 shifts to go. Will be booking a 5 night break to Krakow for the October half term this afternoon. It is a surprise for the wife who has always wanted to visit Auschwitz and I have found a small apartment in the old square which should be the perfect base. Another good signing for Villa confirmed this morning in the form of Brentford's Ezri Konsa, if he's good enough to keep Tzuanabee out of the England U21's he will do for me, and I love the fact we are signing young, hungry players who are only going to improve. Bust out the Omaha 11/18, so the lawn is going to get its mowing before we head out for a bit of stick throwing and squirrel chasing.
I am not as young as I once was. Tuesday was the annual stocktake day at work and as usual this meant a few long shifts, 7am-7pm Sunday, 10am -11pm Monday, 6am-4pm Tuesday. In olden times I would of got through this with ease and then gone out on the proverbial **** to celebrate the successful negotiation of another one done. This year I came home to play poker, not very well. The fact I kept nodding off in between hands should of been a warning sign but I took no notice. I did manage to qualify for the Main through the 6pm semi but just couldn't get a hand when I needed it. Having decided to start adding a few £11 MTT's in, the bankroll took the inevitable hit and today we will have to try and go again. Speaking of 'going again' I see that Mr Bruce has landed the Toon job and shown his true colours again with a total disregard for the fans of Sheff Weds, we did warn you. Will he succeed, I very much doubt it. Swallows are real messy creatures. We currently have a swallow nest perfectly positioned above the french doors leading out into the back garden. Its becoming a daily job removing their mess and the noise those little ones make is truly a remarkable feat. Skemanthorpe is not the metropolis I believed it to be. Had to drop my car off at Audi in Wakefield and wrongly assumed that there would be a frequent bus service from there back to the bustling streets of Skelmanthorpe. How wrong I was. Had to get taxi rather than wait the two hours for the next bus. Finally, hats off to the marketing powers at Paddy Power. Below is either the worst kit in history or a very clever marketing ploy. Either way it has got Paddy Power all over social media again.
Got this weekend off and nothing really planned so it will be a leisurely one. Not sure how to start it as Friday night I have a few options. Emley are at home to Huddersfield Town in a pre-season friendly, horrible kit included, there's a nice little tourney on a Friday at the local casino, The Grove is always an option or there's the lure of SkyPoker. We will have to wait and see.
Poker highlights of the last 5 days were 8th in a £1k BH for £40, 16th in Mini Sharpshooter for £31, and a £20 cash injection from the Bronze Ticket giveaway, thank you very much Sky. I've not played a massive volume over the past 5 days and haven't played particularly well in the tournies I have entered. Back on the tables tonight, with a renewed vigour and hope to bink one. Watched a fair bit of sport over weekend, Shrewsbury 0 - 1 Villa, thought Jota was far and away best player on pitch and Wesley showed some good touches and movement. Whyte beating Rivas in a very professional performance. Highlight would have to be The Tour De France. I am no cycling afficionado but every year I become totally enthralled in this event. To watch these supreme athletes battle it out day after day both tactically and physically is the essence of true sport. If you have never watched I beg of you to watch a mountain stage finish and not be truely amazed by the prowess of these 'machines'. 14 shifts till holidays, and counting!
Hi @68Trebor , Out of interest, what did you think of Shrewsbury? I know it is a pre season friendly, but they are our opening day opponents. I had them to go down last season, kept me interested pretty much all season.

It's been a while!

Cash 10p/20p, 12,150 hands -£61.
Cash 5p/10p, 2,600 hands -£37.
MTT's, 217 played, +£70.
Total for the 1st half of the year = £28 loss.

This is why I find poker sooooo frustrating!!!!!
Why did 9s and Kings beat Kings and 9s??
My point was I put at least one of them on KK or AA and couldn't believe it was 88 and A9.
