    First things first.
Weighed in this morning bang on 14 stone 0 pounds, a 2 pound loss on the week. Relatively happy with this as on Wednesday i ended up in The Grove with our lass and Willow for a couple of tea-time drinks. Six pints of Moonshine and a curry from Solo's didn't help this week's weight loss.
It was Willow's first adventure to The Grove since her operation and she seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. She is on the mend now and we have upped her daily allowance to 3 x 10min walks around the churchyard every day. She is back at the surgeons on Tuesday for a post op check up and hopefully they will be happy with her progress.
Villa's 'free shot' last weekend didn't really work out as would of been hoped. Would of been nice if we had tried though. The striker situation didn't help yesterday at Brighton and we would be dead and buried already if it wasn't for a certain Jack this season. How this lad is still waiting that first England call up is beyond me, every pundit and the majority of the country, bar Blues, Leeds fans and a certain Mr Southgate is in agreement he should be in that squad. It does stagger me that a club of Villa's size has got itself into such a situation with regards to a striker. It is not so much this transfer window but the last one which has put us in this predicament. We started the season with Wesley (young and unproven), Kodija (obviously not fancied by Smith and never been the same since injury) and Keinan Davis (again raw and unproven - although I do think he maybe special when he gets the chance). It looks like we have more or less signed the lad Samatta from Genk, hopefully the new Benteke (from when he played at Villa, not Liverpool or Palace). The key is his work permit and for him to be available for Watford at home on Tuesday night, huge must win game, the deal must be signed and sealed by 12pm tomorrow. Fingers crossed. We will also need another!
Have moved my play to Stars for the time being and after an uneventful MTT night last week I have been playing 10nl. Hopefully it is ok to show the following, if not I do understand.

So as we can see a decent start. The reasons I have switched to Stars are 4 fold. Believe it or not I think the standard is worse than on SkyPoker, where the cash tables seem quite decent reg infested. The traffic is just so much better for me, particularly with regards to mornings and afternoons. The Stars software and the ability to track my results and analyse my performance. They did offer me a decent volume related bonus.
Actually bumped into an old Sky regular the other night in Devonfish. Got to say hello and ask him how he was doing.
Other good news is that my sister is being transferred to a rehab centre, specialising in paralysis, in Leamington Spa, tomorrow. We will have to see how this goes and I will be visiting a week on Tuesday prior to the Villa v Leicester semi final 2nd leg.

Things generally seem to be on the up in Trebor-Ville if not Trebor-Villa.

No problem with that 'Stars stuff on here, after all, it's their train set now.

Most of all, I do hope things work out as well as they reasonably can for your Sister at the rehab centre. How is she coping mentally?

Most of us don't realise how lucky we are until something dreadful goes wrong.

Villa performed 'The Great Escape' on Tuesday night and put themselves in a far better position then they would of been without that comeback. Not only was it 3 points and 3 less points for Watford but the confidence and self belief it should instil in the team is immeasurable. I will be at Villa Park on Tuesday night for the second leg of the Carabao Cup Semi against Leicester and hope that Samatta gets his debut and Vardy can't play. Its then away at Bournemouth on Saturday for another huge 6 pointer.

Didn't do to well on the weight loss front, actually putting 1 pound on and hitting 14 stone 1 pound at weigh in this morning. As Willow is slowly returning to full fitness and we are now up to 20 minute walks, and should be back to normal towards the end of February, I am hoping this will help. I know the Gunness in The Grove on Saturday afternoon didn't, but it was the weekend and I was off.
Poker this week has been pretty meh and I have been playing cash on Stars, without much success or loss. I have been looking for some inspiration when it comes to my poker and I am hoping that PKRPar's bingo challenge will re-ignite the flames. With that in mind I have withdrawn form Stars and deposited £100 into SkyPoker. I will be playing ony MTT's that qualify for the Unicorn Bingo. Starting tonight with the 7 at 7, Mini and a couple of £5 and £11 BH's.
My sister continues to improve and is now in a rehab centre in Leamington Spa where she is undergoing a programme with the aim of being discharged towards the end of April. I will be visiting her with my lad on Tuesday prior to the football.
Work is really tough at the moment with the powers that be expecting miracle results with the wage spends we are currently allowed. Morrisons and Sainsburys have announced their annual cull in management numbers and it is surely only a matter of time before Asda make a similar announcement. When that day comes it will be a real moment in time to decide what my future work life looks like.
Off out with Willow for a 20 minute walk and then on to the tables to play Bingo.

    Balance £100.

Weekly update on The Villa is a mixed bag. Had a tremendous night on Tuesday as we claimed our place in the Carabao Cup Final. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric and as good as I can remember for a long time. I was sat in the Lower Holte, somewhere I have never sat before, as I always head to the Upper Holte. The view was really good and the crowd around me were well up for it. I thought we played well and Grealish and Nyland were the stand out players. Some of the saves Nyland made were really top drawer and you have to feel for the lad if he doesn't get the shout on March 1st. Villa have been given the West End of Wembley so you will find me on the green, at the bottom of the hill from The Green Man, with my 4 pack on Sunday 1st March, for my 3rd visit to the home of football in the last 3 years. We then came back down to earth with a bang yesterday at Bournemouth and it now looks like 3 from 6, with which 3 anyone's guess. We have a two week break now before we host The Special One and his team from North London. Every game, every week is now going to be a 'cup final' and I honestly don't know if we will survive or not. Would I take a win at Wembley or staying up. My heart says a Cup win, my head says Premier League survival.
Weight was bang on 14 stone at weigh in this morning and with Willow becoming more and more active every day, took her on the fields for the first time this morning and she loved being off the lead again, I am hoping the weight will dip below 14 stone this week.
Poker has been pretty decent and I have managed to complete 2 wins in PKRPar's bingo game, the FTT3 and the 7 at 7. Also won a couple of tickets on Stars to a $22 and $55 Bounty Builder Series MTT, which I will probably be using tonight, along with trying to get another Bingo tourney ticked off.

    Balance £233.52.

Its been nearly 3 weeks, and since the euphoria of the Carabao Cup Semi, Villa have yet again got into the habit of shooting themselves in the foot, with SuperJack continuing to try and drag this team up the table. Somehow we still sit outside the bottom 3 but as shown on Sunday against Spurs we just can't seem to hang on to anything and look so leaky at the back. Our run in is starting to look ominous and we are going to have to probably pull a couple of surprise results out of the bag along the way. On the plus side Samatta has the look of a decent player and McGinn is back on grass training. It is now just a week away to the cup final and I have 2 tickets for the game and will be heading down early Sunday morning. Luckily for my lad I managed to get him one so it should be a great day out, even when we lose. Before that we have a tricky away game at Southampton on Saturday. I am surprised that Man City, always used to have a huge following even in their darkest days, have not been able to sell their allocation and have seen a few Villa fans made the trip to the Etihad on Tuesday night so as to get a booking history and then be able to buy 4 tickets from Man City. Would of been easier if they had just given Villa a bigger allocation as obviously the bigger club.
Just returned from a few days in Exmouth at my Dads and can confirm that Willow is fully recovered and thoroughly enjoyed herself on Exmouth beach along with the other hundreds of dogs on there. It really is like doggy heaven with the sand, the sea and the never ending supply of willing play mates.
Due to my week off work the old weight loss has hit a bit of a wall and we will have to be back on it from Sunday when I return to work. Biggest offender would be the beers I have consumed whilst in Devon, although I was shocked by the prices. £10.05 for an IPA and Peroni compared to £7.30 in The Grove. No wonder they call its God County.
The break from poker has probably been a blessing and I returned to the tables with renewed vigour tonight. The result can be seen below.

Was really pleased that I took the 6.30pm £1k BH down as its one of those tournies I always play, but don't seem to do very well in. Its funny but when we got down to about the last 20 I just had a real feeling I was going to go on and take the victory. I don't know why and there is no logical reason but it was just there and I had a real belief it was my turn. I have now completed 3 of PKRPar's Bingo Card and will have a stab at Midnight Express as well tonight. Possibly going to play live on Friday night as no work on Saturday and I am relatively rested after my time in Exmouth. At the moment its a toss up between Huddersfield £40, £1k GTD, usually makes about £1.5k, and Leeds where they are trying a £45, £1.5k GTD for the first time on a Friday night. Huddersfield will probably be the choice as nearer and usually softer, although it is a bit of a lottery sometimes. The advantage Leeds has is the cash games are far more prevalent than at Huddersfield, so if you do get knocked out early there is at least an alternative. We will see how I feel Friday.

    Bankroll £356.11

So its a week into the adventures on the 2p/4p tables and it has been going OK. I have made a tiny profit. One scenario keeps appearing that I did not encounter on the 5p/10p tables.
There seems to be a never-ending amount of limping going on. If I have position I have been tending to raise these with any 2 decent cards and then continued to show strength on decent looking flops. The problem comes when you have 2 mehhh cards, there are 4 limpers in front of you, you've got position and the amount in the pot means you just have to call. I hate limping but is this the correct decision in these circumstances. Then there is the scenario when you are in the SB and again there are 3/4 limpers and its only 2p to get into a 20p pot. How can you not call?
The World Cup is now over and I have to say, as many others already have, what a wonderfully well run and enjoyable one it has been. It is the first major tournament I can remember where there has been no crowd trouble at all and for all Mr Putin's faults you have to take your hat off to him for that. England did us proud and you just wonder how good we could be if our players got a club game very week and if we had one Modric, Hazard or a modern day Gazza. Step forward Mr Jack Grealish! What made it even more enjoyable was the fact we could forget we supported The Villa for a few weeks and the fact I came 2nd in our Fantasy Football League for a return of £30.
Summer continues and my 18 year old daughter returned safe and sound from her week to Magaluf with 11 of her friends. Not only that but as she was delayed for 6hrs coming home she is getting £400 back from Jet2. Not bad work if you can get it. This means that me and Our Lass are now on countdown to our 2 week cruise around Croatia, Montenegro, Venice, Malta etc, etc. Less than 4 weeks, or only 17 shifts as I like to look at it.
Had another interview for a Deputy role on Friday. This time there was no advertising of the job and 3 of us were asked to go and see the Store Manager. Thought it went really well and I know I have more experience than the other 2 candidates so just hoping that politics don't come in to it and that finally I may get that promotion. Should find out this week.

    Bankroll = £55.30

    Hands Played = 3,735
    Total Profit = £5.30
    BB/100 = 3.55
    Profit/Hr = £0.43

Just seen this from a post I made 2 years ago and wanted to tell you all the name of the next 'Jack Grealish'
Step forward Mr Callum O'Hare - You heard it here.

First of all the poker stuff. Been playing a fair few MTT's since the last post, 41 in total, and have shown a loss of about £60 despite taking down a £11BH for £141, and a 3rd in another £11BH for £50. Also dabbled on the cash tables losing £90 at 20nl and winning £20 at 10nl. So as we head into the 3rd month of the year my total loss, year to date, is £190 across all skypoker, according to my records.
Later this year me and the wife are planning to downsize and as a result I have made the decision to try and make an effort to really save some money for the next six months and get us in a place where once we have completed the move I can slow down work wise and find a less taxing role. To help achieve this I have made the decision to self exclude from every other poker/betting site for a 6 month period, including skybet. I have also put a very small monthly deposit limit on to my SkyPoker and Football Index account. This means I have what I have and no more and will hopefully help me practice better BRM.
Wembley was a great day out, as usual, and we managed to get in The Green Man for 11.30am. As always the atmosphere in there was tremendous and got more and more boisterous as time ticked by. It was amusing and also quite sad to see some young lad, probably just turned 18, absolutely wasted, unable to stand up, and his mates completely oblivious to the fact he wasn't getting in to Wembley, despite everyone in the pub telling them to get him sobered up. Shame really as it could be a long time before we're in a cup final again. Later on outside Wembley we saw his group of mates but alas he wasn't to be seen. All part of growing up I guess. The game seemed to pass in a flash and despite always being second best I thought we put up a decent show, particularly in the second half. When they went 2 up I was fearing a real tonking. A quick mention to Foden, thought he was outstanding, first touch impeccable and always seemed to find space, sign of a great player. He is currently wasted sat on a bench and needs first team football. A couple of observations from the day would be City fans have changed. In the times before they were bankrolled I would of put there support up there with anyone. Now they have become arrogant and seem to have forgotten where they have come from. The amount of City fans walking back to the station at full time, not even bothering waiting to see their team lift the cup was embarrassing, and their support throughout the game was quiet to say the least. I pray we never become that club. Secondly we have to re-introduce standing areas. The amount of people kicking off because someone was standing in front of them was ridiculous. As someone who always stands, I get that some people want to sit, but for me the live game is all about the atmosphere and for me I get too excited to sit down. For us it is all about the league now and if we can reproduce that second half fight I think we could be ok, especially with McGinn on the way back.
Have booked Skiing for next year and somehow ended up lead passenger for the 6 of us. Judging by how hard it was to organise 6 fully grown men to get me their passport name, date of birth and a deposit, it is going to be a thankless task. Although it is 12 months away it is something to really look forward to along with the cruise this summer. Also trying to organise a few days away to Krakow in October half term, wife works in a school, but I am waiting for a manager at work to leave or move as she has already booked that week. I do, however, have first dibs, so fingers crossed. It has been leaked to the press that Asda are in talks with possible new owners and this would explain why the current board are continuously cutting costs and driving the profit line soooo hard. Something at some point is going to have to give as the current model is not sustainable in my opinion, and those of most employees. Still the rumours of another management restructure circulate but nothing concrete has come down yet.

    Bankroll £228.43.

Any news or photos on Willow?

Believe it could be a private equity firm with Walmart retaining a minor share.
Willow is very well and back to normal, as proved by our 5 mile walk this afternoon.
Just longing for some dry weather, as she ain't a fan of the hose down post walk.

Far from it, the thread has 6,200 views, they can't be all you & me.

It's modern life & time pressures, Folks LOVE to read diaries like this, they really do, it's just that they don't comment.

And I DO get how frustrating it is. I do threads every day, some of them day after day, & put a ton of work into them, & very often get zero interaction, but it's not personal, it's just the times we live in, what with TV, computer games, poker, Social-Media & God knows what else.

Keep writing, it's a very popular Diary, trust me. Very honest, too.

^^ I have been a silent reader for a fair while until now. I like to read your view on the Villa, being a fellow fan myself. Your view tends to be more optimistic than mine usually.

Any specific plans for the BRM/game selection?
