Read this everytime I see it on the board, noticed 1 or 2 are cashing out a significant amount of their BR.

Whats this all about? - One said tilt control...?

Where are u trying to go with your poker? Isnt the idea of this theory to win, build the bankroll up until you have enough to play the next level, and so on and so on...?

Surely cashing out regularly is gonna make this almost impossible and ur never ever guna get anywhere?

LOL, I was wondering this too. My idea is to get to a much higher level before cashing out even enters my mind.

Starting roll £20 built from freerolls.

Currently at £125 - looking to use a promotion via sky to get £10 on top for free for 7 days play.

Will be looking to grind at 4p cash (perhaps the odd shot at 8p / 10p) and get up to £150 by end of Feb 2010.

I know this is not a massive roll but I would like to say that I have never gone bust since joining Sky 15 months ago... long haul grind but fun! :)

Oh and this roll is completely separate from life expenses etc I will not even be considering withdrawing until I get to around £500+

    Stake 4NL

    BR £85.39 (-£0.97)

Ain't posted for a while since I had pretty nasty session losing two BI's in one session, since then grinded back up and looking to rise as usual. I can definitly say building it back after playing badly has made me feel more confident.

Also had a nice cash in Orfordable last night for £31.20, but it won't go anywhere near my roll.

Won't go near you roll? sep buy in?

Well done on recovering - it is definitely when your confidence gets dented that a solid break even / little profit session is needed. I lost £10 last night playing silly on NLH8  made calls I would never have made, not applying odds etc... today played for 45 mins on NLH4, waited patiently lost a few 'bad beats' but finally picked my spot and left up, not massively but up!

I like to keep the cash BR separate from tourneys, plus I don't feel the need to rush up the levels with big cashes like this, infact doing so could let me play at a level before I'm ready. Although I doubt the skill level increases much from 4NL to 10NL lol.

back to DOHHHHHHH i draw some of the profits out because i know i will tilt it off if i lose a couple of bad beats this is what i need to controll. Also yes i want to become a more 'serious' player and earn proper money from the game what do i do with £30? take a shot and try and double my money or add some more money on to the roll? or shall i just grind it out at 2p4p?

    Thanks Tom

In Response to Re: Build a Bankroll:
hi loving the thread awsome reads, i would like to contribute my poker story and objective. ive been on the site for a while now, played all sorts of stakes and games on here, i just checked on my accounts, i have two cards on the site my old one which has had £477.54 earnings on and my new one which is currently on £673.54. Which has bought me some nice things. now to the poker talk, i began my poker journey playing small cash games of 4nl i was profitable ive had a few cashs on some of the tournys and once came 7th in the open bubbled with AK vs JJ :(. Ive won a couple of MTT's for £200 which made me very happy. but i never can build a steady bankroll with out going bust or drawing most of it out, hence my withdraws. I got to £400 roll building once, then blew the lot on roulette lol. got to £150 recently lost £50 on a cooler hand heads up, so drew £70 out and im currently sitting on £30 in my balance. how the **** am i suppose to build a roll i really dont understand how i can do it im desperate to do something! Any tips greatly appreciated Thanks Tom (Ginge999)

Hi Tom ! What are you doing ??? From the results you mention you obviously have some talent for the game. and it sounds like you have made a breakthrough with your BR at least once.
Just have one account and card so you know where you are. And protect you bankroll its sacred ! Its not to be blown away or withdrawn.
When you only have a couple of hundred you cant put yourself in situations to lose £50 HU. If your game is good enough to win £200 mtts, keep going there. To me as a tourny specialist I get far more of a buzz out of a good final table than any cash game. Get yourself playing tight in STTs, sometimes tourny wins dry up for a while and these keep your game together while moving your BR forward. By using this strategy you should not be risking more than 10% of your BR on any day.
When I started after a couple of false starts of £50, I then began to have some success. I decided to not make any withdrawals until I could take a 4 figure one, and thats what I have done since, my biggest withdrawal being 7k. To play at the level I am comfortable at, I keep 2k in account, so there is no financial pressure on my game. Patience is the key !
AND ROULETTE IS OUT ! SO IS USING YOUR POKER BR TO HAVE A FLUTTER ON SKYBET!
    Good luck with your game
    Tony

Cheers Penguin7. the tourny wins were a long time ago i struggle these days, I find I always go out on a 60/40 spot where i get my chips in ahead, but then again im not blaming bad luck to my results as i know varience swings in round abouts. i currently am only using one card as the other one is an old card. roulette is very bad yes i dont like it tbf just enjoy a flutter now and then. congratulations on your BR thats where i would like to be, to boost my wage as im currently in a really bad job lol.

Same here m8, my pay is so bad, Ive gone part time now and only worked 3 days since xmas. Now that does put pressure on my game !!
Plug away at those tournys. Play at a comfortable buyin, experiment with your game a bit, and when you do build a decent stack, scare the **** out of them ! And always use the button well, position is key.

Having been on the Old King Cole for a year now, I find it impossible to build a proper bankroll. Every time I get it up to a decent level another bill comes along necessitating a withdrawal.

I can usually spin a fiver up to three figures in a few days (usually on DYMs and the odd cheap MTT) and this is really annoying. By rights my roll should be up in the four figure mark.

Wait 'till I get a job though, then I'll be after you all!!!!

Was playing quite a lot around august - November last year, won quite a lot via free entry tournaments and just grinded on the cash.. I started on 30p dyms then to 60p then up, then when I got to about £80 I pushed on with 4p cash.

Use all ways you can to get access to shots to money - free comps etc... comp entries. This forum and Sky Rich provide a lot of opps.

    Take care

    Dave

    Stake - 4NL

    BR - £85.87 (+£0.48)

Had frustrating start today in first session dealt 10's in sb with usual 7 limpers so I decided to just make it up.  flop the set so think I'm pretty strong make a pot bet as board is flushing str8ning, gets folded round then some guy who covers me just shoves all-in, I inst call he shows flopped str8 which was pretty sick no FH so i'm down a BI. After that had a break then came back played usual game and managed to get double up with aces plus a bit more so a profit day overall not bad.

ok tom, with your £30 hit 4NL again, build it up to 100, withdraw £20 (so you can smile as you have locked away some profit :) ) and then move up to 8NL, build it up, withdraw a small sum and repeat... but dont ever play roulette... ever.

    BR - £123.42 (-£1.58)

Just sitting and leaking money at the moment, mainly as trying to get £10 promotion from Sky. Will be looking to hold the Roll at around £121-123, then get the £10 on the 8th Feb and then start to play proper poker again, rather than just sitting and getting the promotion unlocked.
