In Response to Re: New BR challenge - Back on track : My bad, didn't realise you had been concentrating on 4NL for that long, thought you started seriously at the start of this diary. Posted by Patching99
havent taken the full year that seriously tbh. but a good portion of it.
Picked up a fault yesterday playing elsewhere. I likley wouldnt have noticed this on sky. I thought at first after i was rivered twice with all/83% of the money already in that i was just running bad again. So i took a step back and thought about it.
Simple term was, i wasnt betting big enough with big hands. I was playing them well, but betting to small allowing my opponents to be priced in, and when i was getting re-raised i just flatted to trap like a complete n00b.
After noticing this and betting properly i ended up finnishing $20 up despite losing a good $30 in the first little while.
Although disappointed that i finnished up as most of that was from a UKIPT sat whre i was doing well which got canceled and i got money back. Kind of annoyed me.
hi Don - followed lots of your posts with interest ever since you said I had you running all over the place many moons ago.
I am only learning poker - and will be for the rest of my life - but the same applies to walking and driving a car. When I walk from A to B without thinking about it I enjoy the walk and don't think about my feet. When I drive from A to B I don't remember any of it if I have done it right. If I had a close shave I forget about it otherwise I drive like a plonker - I drive like a plonker when there is a cop car around.
My opinion - for what it's worth - is enjoy this wonderful game for what it is and use your talents (in-built and learned) to reach your goal. Your history at the moment is like a photo album - wonderful memories which you cannot change even if you want to.
Get out there with a clear head and give us a game - not a college thesis - you are good and like the rest of us can get a lot better - but let's have fun doing it.
Don, Why dont you do yourself a favour and just start playing poker, if you are not enjoying playing the game then stop doing it. It seems that you have had advice ( most of which is good ) from loads of people on here, and i think all this advice is just confusing you just get on and play your game dont try to be like anyone else. As i said just now the most important thing is if you are not enjoying playing poker then go and find something else to do, at the end of the day for most of the players on Sky Poker it is just a game not a matter of life or death. Mick.

Imber your completely right i wasnt enjoying the game and to play well and be happy you have to enjoy it.
Good news is ive went back to big field mtts. this is where i most enjoy the game. Got my first score last night again. A welcomed relief.
Finnished 18/2178, could have came higher. But 3 bet size and cbet when blind on blind was too big SB flopped a set. The AQ v AK v a shorty. Blinds went up had 13BB so shoved A8 BvB into AQ. Felt really disappointed as at that point i really didnt want it to end. I felt i had a huge edge in the tournament as was enjoying the highs and lows of it.
