Maureen? Actually, I feel a little sorry for him. Right now, he's like Steve Bruce at Villa, neither can do a thing right by their fans.
Fellaini is a great example. Armchair fans diss him to a man, & yet Maureen - & others before him - rated him highly. Who do we think is more likely to be right, pro football Managers or Team Armchair?
Welcome back JJ, its good to hear from you . I thought you had run off with the wife to be or gone for a long run with GaryQQQ.....its been that long since with heard off ya.
Just two words on the Man U situation....HA HA. I really hope the bubble bursts on their neighbours, with all their plastic fans, soon too.
Good luck with your latest (number 1,999?) cash challenge and I look forward to reading about your exploits again.
Who do we think is more likely to be right, pro football Managers or Team Armchair?
Fellaini has been one of the few who deserves credit.
Has to make you wonder though, what he needs to do to get a more prominent role in the team.
I don't think Fellaini belongs in a top top team. But United aren't that. Despite finishing 2nd last year, they never were that.
They have the best goalkeeper ever to play the game, and the luckiest manager. And okay, some good players too.
As a team struggling, Fellaini is just the sort of bloke you need, he'd be on my teamsheet most weeks.
I don't think Jose has much of a clue what he's doing, though.
I can't think of many managers who would go into the biggest club in the World, have 400m to spend and 3 years on have them in such a desperate position.
Not just in the table, but the relationship with the fans, the players, the board, they're all shattered.
No vision, no gameplan, the team has gone backwards, the transfer dealings have been abysmal, and with City and Liverpool flying, both with more to come his time is surely up.
I feel sorry for him too. He was a good manager in yesterdays game, but he's been left miles behind.
Rather like an ageing boxer who doesn't want to admit he's past it.
Sacked by Chelsea whilst in the bottom half (how???) and now facing the same fate at United, one might be tempted to say he's becoming a specialist in failure !
As a person, I don't much like Fellaini, but nobody can say he does not give his all on the pitch.
If, as a Manager, my Team were struggling, & things going badly, a bit of bottle, fight & attitude needed, Fellaini would be the first name on my team sheet.
He's not exactly, say, Eden Hazard, Salah or De Bryune, who all ooze class, but he never goes missing & opponents must hate playing against him.

Alas, it never worked out with the wife to be.
It never does, does it
But they say it's not what happens that's important.
It's how you handle it.
And I handle things terribly. I'm the actual worst at handling things.
So I went MIA/AWOL for a while, sulked, anddddd onwards we go.
As for GQQQ.
Unreal. What an inspiration.
To be clocking his times, at his age blows my mind.
It's also comforting to know that if I look after myself as well as he has (im trying!) then running can be a big part of my life forever.
If I keep grafting my nackers off and he eventually comes back to the field I could give him a race one day!

Like when he's 80 or something.
Sorry to hear that mate.....women hey! None of them are wired up right. If you need a rant/chat about it, drop us a line on Fakebook ....I am a **** expert in that field!
Anyway, stay strong and keep up with the running to keep you focused. If you get really good at it, perhaps you might catch the next lass that runs off .
Nice to see you challenge Gary.......next year! *waves to Gary*
I’m more interested in how the running has been going? Anymore half marathons?
Gl
I actually ran my first half marathon in around a year yesterday!
It's been frustrating with injury, and some other setbacks, but I've been training hard throughout that time on the bike in the gym, and running whenever I can.
For that reason, it's abit misleading, but I managed an almost 13 minute PB.
Almost 45 minutes faster than the first half marathon I ran for charity 2 years and 2 weeks ago!
------
The Sunday before I took over 5 minutes off my 10k PB in Sheffield...
That one was a shock to me, I've been running loads of 10 mile races and 10ks, and didn't expect to get anywhere near that time.
-----
Now that i'm fit again, (touching wood) I love going out running every day (in before Gary tells me off).
I've had a few damaging addictions over the years but I've finally found a good one.
I've had a go at joining some running clubs lately, it's difficult to integrate into a big crowd of people who all know eachother.
I'm still not the best with anxiety and stuff.
They're all really nice people, but they're like too nice.
I'd rather they take the p!ss out of me wearing odd socks or looking like im in labour during a sprint finish. Then I could give em some back, that's more my comfort zone
It's alright though, just takes time. I'm looking forward to repping my Donny Pacers jersey at some races. Maybe a full marathon in 2019.....
----
Hows things with you?
Don't see you in the 30nl streets anymore, whats happening there?

Counting your money after the weekends golf?
Very impressive PB’s there. I’ve done 4 HM’s in last year or so, best one was 1.54. Find out next week if I’ve got in the London Marathon, it’s only a 5% chance but you never know.
No nl30 for me since May/June, have joined the MTT grind for now and I’m enjoying it much more.
As for the golf, what a weekend. No money on it but was great viewing.

Some good going that mate.
You take it pretty seriously then? I'd imagine it's quite tough finding the time to fit lots of miles in with the family and stuff.
You'll notice my distance on the strava thing was only 13miles, i somehow hit "pause" on the recording for presumably around a minute or so.
And there's an issue with the official chip timings, so I can't say for sure exactly what my new HM PB is but i'd guess at around 1h 54 also!
Any more halfs planned this year?
The race is on to get under 1h50! Quite literally
---
I've another one this Sunday, and going to try and race most Sundays until the end of the year.
My preparation last week was poor, I went out for a game of pool at 5pm Friday night and at 6am Saturday morning I was in the roughest club of all time with half an eye open, finishing a bud and waddling to a taxi.
26 hours later I was on the start line in Ponte.
I would say this weekend I'll be much better prepared but there's a chance it goes the same way.
I dont even like bud.
----
Away out for a recovery run in an hour, and then I'll get round to playing some poker.
Maybe.
Although I'm feeling very tired. (still standard)
A hot bath and Bournmouth v Palace may be more appealing than table starting @ 20nl.
Watch the most under-rated player in the premiership in King Wilfred do his thing.
Good to see you back Doh, and all the best with poker/running and whatnot.
Talking of plastic clubs, which midlands team had an attendance of 28,261 at home to Swansea in the Premier League last season, but only had an attendance of 22,078 against Swansea in the Championship a couple weeks ago?
I'm going to have a bash at playing a decent amount of poker this month.
If that isn't unlikely enough on it's own, I'm going to try and write about it too.
500/1 the double.
------
For someone who never seems to do anything, lots of stuff seems to happen to me.
Or at least It feels like it does.
Maybe it doesn't and that perception is just a result of constant overthinking.
Which in itself is ironic, for someone who thoroughly dislikes having to think.
(evidenced by the fact that ive been playing 30nl for the last 121 years)
Its been an up and down summer, but maybe I can talk about that at a later date.
------
For now, why am I here?
It's good to talk, I guess.
It's something I've under-estimated of late.
I get into my own bubble, and I stay there.
When life is going well, that's all well and good.
When it isn't, and things go wrong, the bubble can be a truly awful, lonely place.
Over the last month or so I've made alot of effort to branch out/reach out, to old friends and new friends, to try and learn from past mistakes and set up some support networks, to help me move forward in life.
It's a little deep for a first post, but it's important.
And when I think back to my darkest days (of which there were many) my main (and for a long time, my only) source of support was the skypoker community.
Specifically, the people who posted on here.
Is that abit sad?
Maybe, you be the judge.
But i'll never forget, and always be thankful to the good folks of SP.
-----
So.... poker...
We're plodding! still.
It's one long plod.
But it's okay, we're gonna have a go at making some money this month.
Christmas is coming, and I hear pokerstars are going to be moving in, how long do we have left !!!!!
I like challenges/goals. I think they suit my personality, to have a target in mind, and a deadline to achieve it.
I also think i've been around long enough now to not completely go to sh!t if I set a monetary goal, and struggle to get there.
So lets have a crack at making a grand after rakeback in October.
Playing whatever, whenever.
Low stakes cash primarily.
The result is out of my control, the effort levels are not.
----
I HATE doing this, because it really really annoys me when other people do.
But I've already had a good start.
I did try to post before I started playing but I couldnae' find the thread.
+ £79.81
---
I'd love to get some inter-action back in here.
Otherwise it'll probably just be session reports.
Did anyone else predict the demise of Special Jose 18 months ago?
Or was that just me?
If ever there was a perfect sporting/life example of variance evening out over time, it's been his Man United career.
Not sad at all m8.
I always found it quite theraputic doing a diary on here especially during dark times.
GL with the pokerz and the running. I was just getting into running last year and was working up to a 5k run but now i,ve got sciatica and am struggling to walk more than a few yards. I,m actually missing the treadmill at the gym. Never thought i,d say that. Got physio soon so thats my own target.
PS - If your looking for some targets of your own - My sisters fella has just done Ring o'fire Ultra Marathon in Anglesey and i think you,ve got a few years on him - Looks a bit sadistic to me

Sorry to hear about the injury problems mate, lets hope the physio can help get you active again, one way or another.

I've got an appointment with some sort of councillor this afternoon
After I split with my ex, I was really struggling with low mood and low motivation, and generally feeling very unhappy.
I'd been there before, but this felt different.
Worse, in many ways.
So I went and asked for help.
Roll on 2 months, when I'm feeling alot better, and I get to finally speak to someone.
There's nothing anyone can do about it, in the short term at least. But the waiting lists for these things are far too long.
For people struggling with mental illness, asking for help is a big deal. It's a really hard thing to do. (not neccesserily talking about myself here)
So to take that huge step and reach out to someone for help, and then to be told there's nothing anyone can do for x weeks/months it can just be so destructive.
Compare that to the guy who wakes up in a morning with a tickly cough, or a sore ankle, and he can get the help he needs within a few hours.
Comments
More seriously, great to see you back here fella.

Sources I muchly trust tell me they are the real deal.

Ventured down to the Keepmoat half a dozen times this season and we have an excellent team. As in first 11.
At times, playing some really good stuff. It really is like watching Brazil.
However.
Below the first 11, it's more like watching Belize.
Under 16s.
Woeful.
Still, it's nice to get excited about checking the scores on a Saturday afternoon again. That hasn't happened in a long while.
If, as a Manager, my Team were struggling, & things going badly, a bit of bottle, fight & attitude needed, Fellaini would be the first name on my team sheet.

Equally proficient with both elbows, too.

I wouldn't say I take it seriously but I enjoy it. Might do another one in December in Bedford but haven't committed to that yet.
Yeh it's not easy fitting in with the family. I stick to mostly 5ks and park runs unless im training for a HM.
