    It's an interesting piece of construction, too.

    The whole thing sits on three reinforced concrete foundations, to which it is secured by bolts.

    The bolts are an impressive 9 metres long, & each one is secured by the biggest nut you ever saw. Just imagine how big the spanner is for this nut......

    After staying overnight in Seattle, & prior to our trip to the Boeing Factory, it fell to me to pop out at 0730 & get us two coffees & a Danish to get the day started.

    Found a coffee shop right next door to the hotel, it had an interesting name.....

    Interesting menu, too;

    Perhaps I should add that in the USA, a "biscuit" is actually a pastry, bit like a Danish. If you want a biscuit, you need to ask for a cookie.

    Here, on the ferry between Seattle & Bainbridge Island, my new Boeing hat makes it's public debut, though I had worn it in bed previously.

    You look like the cat that got the cream.
    You were in Seattle and went to an independent coffee shop?
    Looks like you had a fantastic time.
    Please send best wishes to all the usual Spt players and I guess the others as well.

    I happened across a compound or "lot" where the iconic USA School Buses were parked overnight.

    This lot along had over 150 of them, all belonging to the Clark County area. (Las Vegas sits within Clark County).

    So I was curious to find out how many School Buses there were in the USA.

    The answer was.......484,000.

    That's a whole lot of buses.

    Interesting fact about these US school buses, Fist Group operates 49000 which I think makes it the largest single operator, got a feeling they also have Greyhound.

    Keep the 'interesting' pictures coming and good luck getting some more cashes
    That explains those silly skirts you guys wear up there.

    Stand in a queue in Vegas, & the chances are this sign will be at the front;

    image

    Starbys, Casino Cashiers, Tournament Registration, Cash Game lists, Hotel Reception, Taxi lines. Everything.

    Pretty frustrating to stand in line for 20 minutes, & each time you reach the front, some guy wanders up to the front & gets served first as he is a "Diamond" Guest.

    Even worse is the cash game lists in Rio. Wait an hour, get to the top of the list, & get "bumped" down time after time. The name appears as, say, Johnson DIA - the "DIA" is the clue - so that means you are bumped back down again.

    I suppose I might have a different view if I were a Diamond, Platimum or Seven Stars Guest, but I'd like to think I'd not take advantage.

    Sometimes it sucks to be a pleb.

    If you are pokering in Vegas & want a coffee, a beer, water, whatever, you shout "Cocktails, Table 21", & a "cocktail waitress" arrives.

    She'll serve you any drink you want. Except a cocktail.

    The language differences are weird.

    Geezer said to me yesterday "I love your pants". Ooh-er.

    If you head to Vegas Downtown, right next to World Market Centre, sits this very odd building.

    It was designed (?) by one of the world's leading Architects, Frank Gehry.

    What is it used for? It's the Luo Rovo Centre for Brain Health.

    I kid you not.

    What a great job they do though. Balancing a tray full of 10\12 drinks on one arm, that I think I would struggle to carry with two.

    Also, I know the rake is high, especially in the smaller buy in tournaments, but can you imagine sitting in your local casino, and asking them to bring you a free drink every 15 minutes? :o

    A lot of these waiter/ex’s are right characters. A line that even made it onto KevMath twitter was a woman with an American accent shouting across two tables “I still haven’t got the coffee I ordered” (indicating she had been waiting a while) the waiter turned back and bellowed “You will have it when I’ve gone and got it” there were a few tables of laughter as his reply was right off the cuff.
