Paul, I haven't got any stories but wanted to wish you and the weeman all the best. I absolutely love your thread. It gets boring and in fact annoying hearing the standard moaning post...I got it in with xx and was called by yy followed by a massive rant and moan. I always think if that is all you have to worry about then life for you must be pretty good! There had been quite a few threads that were getting a bit heated and your thread seems to have made some people think a bit more about what they say/do. Good luck on the tables. Appreciate the reply bud.Glad its still a source of interest to a lot of folk.

Just reading everyones post and it does put life in perspective. 13 months ago. I was walking home with my sons from school when suddenly a speeding bus came from the school and hit my little man Alfie(see picture). Because of what happened, he died from his injuries soon afterwards. Although their are parents who have posted about their disabled children, my only wish right now is to have just have 1 more cuddle with my little man.
Because of what happened to my son, i have been subsequently been diagnosed from severe depression and PTSD(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and much as the same as IDONKCALLU i do have bad days/desperate days but recently i have found badbeats from poker means nothing and that although sometimes there are large volumes of money involved. It doesnt effect me because Life is more important than money but unfortunately most people who have never been seriously affected still do struggle to understand. My only wish is for everybody to be happy in life and more importantly have fun at the table Shuffle Up and Deal Nigel

Hi Nigel, Wasn't gonna post BUT this thread needs to be kept on page 1. There's NOTHING I can say/do to ease your pain but I gotta say since I read this at 08:30 this morning my day has been completely different! And for that I hope & pray that your pain eases soon. Take care & rungood. pad
to be frank, I have had and still do have adversity in my life - won't go into detail here but suffice to say that I have been playing poker for a long time and still get annoyed at bad beats -
now - this maybe because what's going on in my personal life that make the bad beats just a bit like "wtf, please do me a favour"
But on the reverse side of things when my life has been adversity free then I don't get so annoyed at bad beats - strange
imo, I don't have the same opinion as Tikay & co regrading bad beats/outdraws, they really suck and annoy me ! It's best to let that emotion out than hold it in
If you wanna swear the house down or pub/casino after a bad beat/outdraw then hey, why not - we are human not robots
Don't think we should ever pretend we are machines
And all this is coming from someone who understand the variance in the game etc.... and if it can happen then it will, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't feel annoyed about it )
take care, all the best for you and your little boy
Inspiring thread and certiantly puts a bit of perspective on this thing we call life.
Hi, I have reopened this as I can't see why it would have been closed. If it was closed for a reason I'm unaware of I expect it will be closed again (hopefully with an explanation). Posted by Mod_Machka
Beat me to it
The mod concensus is that it must have been a misclick
There seems to be no deliberate or intended reason this was closed, or not that I can ascertain right now, but it's sorted now, so apologies to all. Posted by Tikay10
Thanks Tikay,
Having just responded on the other thread, I can go back to watching the football much happier on both counts
Absolutely brilliant news guys. Was very dissappointed earlier as I couldnt see why this had grounds to be shut down.Earlier I had started to compose a post re nigel aka chopos180 and couldnt get it through. So here goes with take 2.With regards to an earlier post,no one is expected to remove all their emotion when playin at the table and bad beats happen, however at the end of the day when the bb happens and you lose x number of pounds and want to bllow off steam and rant and rave think"what have I lost?Nothin at all" Sure, get upset but step back and realise its whats happenin when the computer/laptop is switched off is whats important.I really urge anyone who gets upset tonight tomorrow, whenever after a suckout etc to come onto the forum and read all the stories on this thread especially choops180.Perspective is the key friends.Hope this isnt too preachy but this is rapidly becomin bigger than I ever imagined.I'll be on the tables for a few hours tonight so hope the runnin is good!
As ever thanks for readin and contributin to this piece.
Curious myself as to why this is.Thought this was something worth continuing with. Paul Posted by bignoise10
Totally agree Paul,
As far as I'm concerned your journey is only just beginning & I am sure that myself & a large number of the community would love to be a part of it.
Now & again you are bound to get people with a different view of life & how it should be lived, and that is their prerogative. The thread you started after a few beers has helped both you & others who have either posted their own stories or just been moved by its contents, and deserves in my opinion to be continued as it has made the forum a better place.
Time for Real life II - The journey continues.
I hope the other guys on the forum are also in favour of this.
Take care Paul
Posted this on the other thread but wanted to add it here
Hi guys read your posts and it puts everything into perspective regards playing poker for money. Yep! it's only money.
I have been lucky in life and not had many of Life's bad beats. Plenty of Poker one's but love every minute of them.!
My Philosophy is to joke about them, laugh them off. This Forum gives us all the space to vent our frustrations and clear the air for the next days trials & tribulations. Whatever Life throws at you give your loved one's a Hug and tell them that you Love them. Hugs Annie xx
Off to my pit now a few glasses of wine the worse for wear!!Big thanks to those who queried the original closure of this thread and hope you all had a good night at the tables and otherwise .
Well here goes. Have had a few days to think about what i wrote. I guess i didnt want to place my thread on here but in hindsight both myself and more importantly paul for starting the thread in the first place. Brag time
I love playing my poker and recently won £7700 from £0 bankroll but not felt anything when i won this money and although i have arranged 2 holidays. 1st one is on monday for 8nights. It still hasnt changed me at all. I did suffer horrendous tilt issues but there are ways and means of conquering them. Even reading this will put things into perspective considering i lost my son over a year ago. Im only now starting to grieve and am crying whilst writing this thread. Im not a great player at all, i know the basics and wondering where this wonderful game could take me. But i would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul(bignoise10) for starting the thread and take this time in asking him to maybe send me a message. Thanks all and enjoy your weekend whatever you do Nigel
