In Response to Re: After over 4 years on Sky having to leave the site for 90% of my play : And hopefully the suggestions on the threads are constructive & worthy of looking at Posted by Woogie8688
off topic, if sky do seriously 'listen' to its customers, whats goin on with the tv channel? wheres saturday night mastercash? where is sunday night primo? surely the original lure of sky was the fact u can have hands shown on tv & analysed? not just a few blokes sittin on a couch wafflin on about nonsense! i dunno what others think but i know several people who used to love watchin the show just incase there hand popped up on tv throughout a tourney, but dont watch anymore....strange.
as for the 'debate' its laughable, clearly there are many players suffering with connection issues...guess what cus service it aint our pcs!! it works perfectly fine on other sites! its frustratin, i like playin here for several reasons, but patience is wearin thin, its not a moan its a fact summat needs to be done, losin connection during important stages of mtts, big cash hands or especially hu games against muppets is soul destroyin especially if ur multi tablin (which i cant do much at all here btw without constant issues) i cant even be bothered goin to cust service anymore, i just accept it! talkin to them tilts me more! but why? its ridicoulous!
the fact ppl are even defending it is shockin! but not surprising i suppose, wud hurst last 5mins on any other major site? i think not, so obviously he gonna defend his baby, however the sheer ignorance & arrogance of some of the posts is incredible! if somebody is doin well in a mtt & sky pulls a wobbly & they cant see there hands for 10mins, then yes they are in there rights to air there annoyance! refunded or not, it dont matter, it is still potentially costin them lots of money!... "i had AA im chip leader guy raises, guy 3bets, its on me....ooohhhh man i take this ive got it in the bag, shall i shove? should i flat play it sneaky? 4bet small? meh dont matter ive got aa, i win this hand i see big money comin my way, my roll is gonna be hugeeee if i win this tourney, perhaps withdraw take the kids on holiday! hmmm benidorm looked nice on tv.......yep im gonna shove, he 3bet he is callin all day anyway.....its on me SHOVE......SHOVE......WHATS HAPPENED???? i cant seem to press my button!!! oh pesky sky just havin its perfectly normal technical glitches again! oh well ill just have to be forced to fold, sit out for 10mins, get back to the table with half my chips left and be be forced to shove wit jack high or summat coz ive just dropped below 10bigs, ah god **** he called with aq im a gonna!!! ah well life goes on!! i love sky after all...soz kids its the busy bee club & caravan in wales again this year!"... nah lets be honest something needs to be done, it is gettin a bit beyond a joke now tbh
I had a chat with sky on the live chat over me bein disconnected & the reply i got from them was use a friends comp or a library comp. pathetic if u ask me
There is issues with the software, nobody can deny that, but yes of course you can also get issues elsewhere.
The main reason I have pretty much left the site is the sheer lack of knowledge and unwillingness to help with a decent percentage of the customer service team. All the time I was in Priority the service was excellent, better than other 'Priority' style service I have received from other poker sites.
However I lost my priority status on Sky when I took a break from playing online so much, then when I came back there was a couple of issues with my account. One which I figured would be relatively easy to solve was that I no longer received any e-mails from Sky, every time I spoke to someone on live chat or via e-mail they were even unable, or unwilling to try and help. As a last resort I even posted in the Ask Tikay thread, I know this is not his job to help on such matters, but I hoped someone else may see it who may be able to, but still, no assistance.
This, on top of another couple of previous issues, left me pretty frustrated and disappointed with Skys customer care team, and now, i play the majority of my poker elsewhere.

6GB of RAM is not the best size. RAM apparently works best when in even numbers, so 2x 2gb, or 2x 4gb. Upgrading to have 2x 4gb might help and should cost <£20.
If you are having disconnection issues it probably isn't your i7 PC to blame, more likekly your internet connection isn't stable enough for the poor sky software. What is your Ping and D/L speed with 6+ tables open? You can find out at speedtest.com. Do you use an ethernet cable when playing?-try upgrading to a cat 6 cable (Cost <£10 on amazon)
One thing I did for disconnection was to use my ethernet cable as the main connection, but also have a 3g dongle connected in case there is a blip with my main line (You can get an unlocked 3g dongle for £20 on amazon, and 1gb credit for £4/month. This always helped me as whenever one cuts out, the other kicks in to keep you connected.
In Response to Re: After over 4 years on Sky having to leave the site for 90% of my play : firstly your last post, we wont lose the minnows, because none of you will leave. hence my point. secondly there will always be new influxes of players to the site. and i already know that new software is under development, ive seen it. And it doesnt run on the flash software of the current software. Which is what makes players (incl myself ) have most of our current problems. Of course id be angered at losing £55 due to being d/c, but i fail to see anyone whos had this problem genuinly and not been refunded. most of these problems, what ive encountered are when they have these large freeroll events. what happened last monday was something ive rarely ever seen since playing on sky near the start.
i have given up trying to get refunds for games i get discond from. there is a problem but it always appears to be everyone else's fault and not skys.. i have kept my peace about this problem for a while and have seen it get worse.. the fact that i had a comment deleted becasuse i put it on the wrong thread..
to make late reg a priority over connection issues is just wrong, yes they might be bringing out a new version of sky poker on different software, but this does not bold well when we consider the problems we have now.. these problems are not going away..
hurst. you have a an attitude towards others who have past comments on here(probably all truthful) which is uncalled for.. you need a serious look in the mirror..
In Response to Re: After over 4 years on Sky having to leave the site for 90% of my play : Hi 67bhoys - of course communication can always be improved but just as many new things come along, others will end (some of which will come back). We always do things for a reason and with the customer in mind - not doing so wouldn't work for all of us. Where possible, we try to give reasonable notice. Of course, as you will have seen on other debates on the community, not everyone agrees on how things should work. That will mean that inevetably, every decision we make will have fans and detractors. We accept this. Even something like late reg which many people love, others dont like. One of the reasons we have the community (which few poker sites have) is to be able to communicate with our customers. We really do listen. Thanks Sky Poker Posted by Sky_Poker
Thanks mr Sky Poker,
I do realise that things do change and evolve. I know also that things are done for a reason. If you could possibly let the customers know the reason, rather than them logging on and finding that their favorite tournament has gone, or that the Monday survivor is cancelled, meaning that they wasted their time playing in the Sunday.
As Mr Burns and other priority, and ex priority players have posted, communication is the key, wether on the forum, or when contacting customer care.
Surely if players like Dohhhhhhh, Shanxta and Mr Burns are taking their business elsewhere, then I reckon you might want to listen to their reasons for doing this.
As a recreational player myself, I enjoy the DTD and the community aspect, but Sky would be wrong to rely too heavily on this.

I left Skypoker due to disconnection issues and emailed Customer Care to explain my actions. My email was not even acknowledged.
I don't expect the Sky empire to crumble due to the loss of my business, but i was a reasonably regular player whose volume was steadily increasing ( c 3/4k points/month )
Sky should take it as a massive compliment that people are hanging on here and complaining rather than simply jumping ship in droves as they would be if this was say a bank rather than a poker site with a strong community. Instead they seem defensive and unwilling to accept there is an issue.
im not sticking up for sky here but am i missing the point i have brought a new laptop 2 weeks ago and ever since then i have had no problems at all no discconection nothing surely the better laptop or computer u have better the connection ? Posted by IDONKCALLU
i will state what i stated on an earlier thread , i am a fairly low stakes player online but the biggest site in the world always respond to emails (within the hour usually)
this is a very very basic requirement of any company especially in this industry
to many players who were regulars have stated that they have had emails ignored, if i was in skys position i would be wondering why this is happening?
it is commendable having support use the forum and respond to queries on here but... " All our emails get read and responded to where needed." sorry this is not correct on two occasions Posted by bugaloo

There were some very good points raised here and ty to those who made positive contrubitions.
Sky have a chance to listern to you guys which I am sure they will do before it is too late.
From a personal point of view this will be my last posting for either a while or forever. I will be playing the odd main and maybe the DTD but thats it.
I know there is new software in the pipeline so I am waiting to see in the future if that will work and I may come back.
Dont forget you have created a great comunity here please dont abuse it or take it for granted.
Before you make your nasty comments think we are all people behind PC so sometimes what you think is being clever can upset someone (no not me I am far to shallow to be upset lol)
Keep growing this and one day you can all be telling the young players I remember when the velocity was the main event we invented the 4x reraise bluff lol
To sum up players look after each other and Sky look after your customers and you will be fine.

I believe Sky are licensed in Alderney where conditions are different to those of the UK, however they advertise in the UK and have to comply with guidelines set by the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority). Under the Goods and Services Act any product or service has to be "fit for purpose" as the disconnection problems have been well documented on the forum, and there are no disclaimers in Sky advertising. Sky must be seen to be addressing the problem or risk posssible action from the authority. I have no doubt that it is a priority for Sky to resolve all issues amicably, However, it does seem communication and customer services need enhancing. If you have, like many other posters experienced difficulties. Maybe you should consider contacting the ASA. As all Sky Poker adverts imply the download is quick, easy and universally compatible. There is no mention that you require anything other than a standard set up. To enjoy one of the best experiences in poker, when it's working. I wish you good luck in the future BiG Al

It seems there are a lot of people complaining, but not many that want to help Skypoker find a solution for us. Skypoker is just a small subsidiary arm of BskyB so it is never going to be the same as pokerstars that has millions to spend on development and support, so we need to do our bit to help if we want the luxury of playing with fellow fun to play with Brits.
