Sleepy reminds me of the Martin Pipe horse back in the early nineties another front running handicapper that eveybody thought not good enough for champion hurdle,c an you name the beast Paul?

    Gpc
the fastest slickest at a hurdle ex flat Mysilv, 8 wins from ten runs 93 94,inc Triumph and a fifth in the Champion Hurdle, remember Alderbrook? off the flat, one run in a Novice hurdle, straight into the Champion Hurdle, bolts up.

Gpc, still sick as a parrot, over the Pipe Novice in the Gold Cup, question was, how far!
    Gloria Victis

Ante Post for Saturday, fingers crossed, Sandown Wetherby and Punchestown all race.

reason for bet, Gary Moore still believes, nominated this as Goshens pre Chelt target race, if Goshen, is ever going to be, the same horse, as Cheltenham, 10 months ago, Saturday is the day.
Sandown 13.50 GOSHEN 10 points win 9-4, price with skybet and one other

reason for bet Alan King stable tour, Messire had two chase runs, two wins, particularly impressive lto, winning a grade 2 £14k race, with ease, beating a Dan Skelton odds on hotpot, think 9-2 is most generous!
Sandown 14.20 MESSIRE DES OBEAUX 10 points each way 9-2 a fifth odds 1 2 3 standout price at 10.10 am with PP, don't matter if race cuts up, ante post pays 1 2 3

reason for bet, a beaten favorite lto, a huge drifting favorite lto, this is with Dan Skelton and fancied for Saturday, 10s is value.
    Sandown 15.30 ALNADIM 10-1 5 points each way a fifth odds 1 2 3 4 5 10-1 with PP

reason for bet, in my horses to follow list, is a Novice chaser called Marown, Marown beat Port of Mars 2l easily, Port of Mars then came out, and WON well, Marown, ran 2nd,better grade, form franked
    Wetherby 14.35 PORT OF MARS 5-1 everywhere 15 points each way a fifth odds 1 2 3

So, that's 3 bets at Sandown and 1 bet at Wetherby for Saturday, plus my Punchestown Festival ante post bets for the weekend.

    Warwick tomorrow (Wed)
    14.35 is a class 4 3m 1f handicap chase
Laying out, a total of 10 betting points, on this little handicap
Inc! a 13 year old! not been at the races for well over 2 years!
not gone completely mad, it's been pointing, it's, last win under rules 3 years ago, in a class 3 over 3m 1f,right now, only WH have priced up, you can have 22-1 AZURE FLY 1point each way a fifth odds 1 2 3 4 with WH
same race, Lucy Wadham is not averse to a little tickle, SHANROE SANTOS handicap mark lowest for ages, runs in a first time visor, and 'job jockey!' Bryony booked, plus WH offer 11-1 a fifth odds 1 2 3 4
Azure Fly 1 point ew at 22-1
Shanroe Santos 3 points ew at 11-1
    speculative 1 point reverse forecast

Sandown going to be only CHASE Card, all hurdles races off.
No good, for the likes of Goshen, looks like the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton Feb 23 only viable warm up run. Racecard, racetimes being rejigged every where, for Saturday, ante post bets stand, on nominated races, at time bet struck.
  • misterpjmisterpj Member Posts: 3,339
just want to clarify ante post bets already made, that run on Saturday & Sunday
place terms apply, to ante post bets, at the time bets placed, which is advantageous when races 'cut up', as is the case with some bets already placed
also, we have the rare situation, of Sandown becoming an all chase card, and the intended hurdle races abandoned.
You obviously do not lose your money, on a bet on a race that doesn't take place, ie Goshen, stakes returned, only possible race for Goshen pre Chelt is the Kingwell at Wincanton.

Bets struck, on specific horses for specific races (that run) obviously stand, again, for example Sandown have made the entire card, all chases, and rejigged the card, and race times.

A lot of 'exciting bets run this weekend'

    Saturday Leopardstown we are on;
    14.10 CAPTAIN GUINNESS 10 points ew a fifth 1 2 3 @ 10-1

    15.15 SAINT ROI 10 points ew a fifth 1 2 3 @ 6-1
only 6 run, we on 3 places

    Saturday Sandown
race now the 13.50 and not the 14.20
    13.50 MESSIRE DES OBEAUX 10 points ew a fifth 1 2 3 @ 9-2
only 7 run, we on 3 places

race now the 14.55 and not the 15.30
    14.55 ALNADIM 5 points ew a, fifth 1 2 3 4 5 @ 10-1
only 10 run, we on 5 places, ALNADIM backed into 3-1 fav

At Wetherby, its the reverse of Sandown, chases scrapped, all hurdles, card, gutted Port of Mars not getting a, run

    Sunday Musselburgh
    15.25 Scottish Supreme Novices
THIRD TIME LUCKI 50 points win Evens (odds on in places)

    Sunday Leopardstown
    15.40 Irish Gold Cup
MINELLA INDO 20 points win 5-2 only 5 runners! for the Irish Gold Cup Minella as short as 6-4

Adding one horse, one bet to the portfolio
    Sunday Leopardstown 14.10
No 7 IRASCIBLE 7 points each way a fifth 1 2 3 @ 8-1 (WH) against the odds on hotpot.

Running, all bets, every bet, nothing omitted
    - 41.05 (irked! 40 of that, Royal Pagaille not getting a run in the Skybet)

we have, got the value in this weekends bets, question is,will we be eating it?

GOOD LUCK , did well on getting those number of place prospects
  • misterpjmisterpj Member Posts: 3,339
    Thanks

Slowly getting back into racing, realise its hard getting my words & sentances to translate the way I mean, take one thing for certain sure, no bet advised, for the sake of a bet, last bet, lost 10 points, AZURE FLY think went off 66-1 fronk rank for three quarters of the race,at one point, SHANROE SANTOS 11-1 > 9-2 was almost fav, then huge drift, and Bryony unseated, thats a well handicapped animal, despite its age.

For example, just realised, Gary Moore has given Goshen an entry at Huntingdon, next Thursday in a class 2 handicap hurdle. Not obsessed with this animal (well slightly!) Two things I cannot get out of my mind. Gary Moore, not known for over hyping any horse, and a yard, selectively would always want on my side, (FIFTY BALL 2 runs 2 wins, hopefully go's off 10.00 bottom weight) next Saturday
GOSHEN was known as the Freak, and anyone who backed that for the Truimph last year, will forever come out, in a cold sweat, reliving the unseat at the last, Goshens next run, will reveal all, either the Freak is back, or it will be thanks for the memories.

Keep looking at CAPTAIN GUINNESS, 3 chase runs this season, injured and pulled up seasonal debut, was odds on, UNEXCEPTED won half the track, that day, and is half the price tomorrow in the Irish Arkle Novice Chase, then CAPTAIN GUINNESS came out, faultless round of jumping, then Captain ran an 8 length 2nd, to the odds on Energumene, and odds for tomorrow
10-11 best Energumene 5s Unexcepted 10s Captain Guinness

Whatever the result tomorrow, going to 'press up'
And lay out, 2 further bets on Captain Guinness, totally convinced the engine this horse has got, is pounds better, on proper Cheltenham going, good, good to soft

    So, adding these

Cheltenham Arkle Challenge Trophy (day 1 March 16th race two 14.10)
    CAPTAIN GUINNESS (only Cheltenham entry)
20-1 fifth odds 1 2 3 nrnb available 4 leading bookmakers 2.5 points each way

    And press up, for tomorrow
    Leopardstown 14.10 Sat
CAPTAIN GUINNESS add further 2.5 points each way @ 10-1 available with two leading layers, Inc WH

By teatime Sunday, I will be either looking forward to Cheltenham with increased anticipation, or be drowning sorrows! Got two more Cheltenham ante post bets, at 16s and 10s,waiting until Monday, to see what the 'ammunition situation is'

Everyone, very best of luck, with all your weekend bets, pj

As I said, getting back into, something once upon a time, was very very useful at.

Defacto, I like, looking through, entries, race make ups.

Not, wouldn't demean myself, 'picking em' for sake of.
Not aware, anywhere, this being tipped up.

One, has leapt off the page, tomorrow.
    Not Won, in 14 months
Had 6 runs, in 3 of those runs, beaten at 6-4 fav 15-8 fav and lto beat at 5-4 fav.
Tomorrow, 10 run, gets loose off 10-4, right down the bottom, 9-2 just went, as I typed, but you can have 4-1 each way a quarter 1 2 3 4 with skybet
    14.05 Muss
No 9 ASHINGTON 5 points each way @4-1 4 places, Skybet, going? but very fair value, humble opinion, every betting point, added, always, running totals, 9-2 went 21.00,lose half a point, for the extra place, only skybet paying 1 2 3 4 and 4s available, 9-2 elsewhere 3 places

    Lingfield, my local track
    Poured over the card

    Found, just the one bet

    13.45 Winter Derby Trail
only 5 run, 'rag O field' A group 2 winner at a mile, WITH the first time VISOR,
VINTAGER 5 points WIN 20-1 with 2 leading bookmakers,my kind of Value Bet, win, lose, or draw!
  • misterpjmisterpj Member Posts: 3,339
after 'all that trying to get value' ended up with 6 horses running across 4 meetings, total betting points outlay, exactly 90 points. Thanks to ALNADIM won 10-1,70 points return, 20 points loss on day, running - 60.05,onwards,upwards,and tomorrow

    In order;
Vintager backed at 20-1 sp 20-1 popped out, tried to make all, in front a furlong and a half out, and for a brief moment, thought.ching ching.! ran well, no complaints.
Messire Des Obeaux, backed ew at 9-2, sp 4-1,couldnt go on that going, 4th.
Ashington, backed ew at 4-1, went off 5-2 favorite, went lame, finished lame.
Captain Guinness, backed it at 10s ew twice.
Felt physically sick, when that fell, 2 out, (not sick for me, or remotely about pennies) sick for the horse and connections, that was giving the odds on shot, a proper race, will never ever know, oh so wish that had not fallen at the second last, convinced, absolute worst that would have finished, would have been 2nd.watched it again, that in my opinion, not any sort of tired fall. Brought down cantering 2 out in the Supreme Novices last Cheltenham, pulled up injured chase debut this season, and now this, at least Captain Guinness, got up, unscathed uninjured, sickening game sometimes.

the highs and lows, of racing and punting, from sick for Captain Guinness, to screaming ALNADAM home up the Sandown Hill, backed at 10s,bolts up, sp 3-1 fav

SAINT ROI, bubble burst? one more chance, on better ground.

Lingfield 13.45 VINTAGER 5 points win 20-1 unplaced

    Sandown 13.50 MESSIRE DES OBEAUX 10 points each way 9-2... 1 2 3 4th

Musselburgh 14.05 ASHINGTON 5 points each way 4-1.sent off 5-2 fav went lame, finished lame, up.

Leopardstown 14.10 CAPTAIN GUINESS 10 points each way 10-1...1 2 3 fell 2 out, in contention
................................& CAPTAIN GUINESS 2.5 points each way 10-1...1 2 3 fell 2 out on contention

    Sandown 14.55 ALNADIM 5 points each way 10-1.....1 2 3 4 5 Winner 10-1 BOLTED UP.

    Leopardstown 15.15 SAINT ROI 10 points each way 6-1...1 2 3 unplaced 4th

    _______________________________
Sunday, the 3 bets, already backed
Leopardstown 14.10 IRASCIBLE had 7 points each way at 8-1, right now, at 15.25 Sat, press it up, another 3 points each way, at, standout 12-1 (WH)
Leopardstown 15.40 Irish Gold Cup MINELLA INDO, had 20 points win at 5-2 weeks ago, small quality field, Minella as short as 6-4. Best wishes Rachal Blackmore & Minella Indo
the big one, fingers crossed, wins well, and straight to Cheltenham for the Supreme Novices
    Musselburgh 15.55 Scottish Supreme Novices
THIRD TIME LUCKI had 50 points win Evens, tips on in places, utilising all lucky charms, and rabbits foot 😉

Hope yourself and loved ones all ok
only half an hour ago, a good pal, in your business, sent me a message, him feeling on the brink?
No idea, and cannot second guess, when, if, and more to the point, how the hospitality business, 'comes back'
Another example, good pal of mine, 2.4 children, in his forties, built his 'little business from nothing' took him 10 years, employs ten, specialist little bodyshop, 95% of his business insurance repairs, and just after Xmas, he told me quarter on quarter, last three, his insurance work, almost dried up, not furloughed any of his staff, (at beginning this year) kept them working and getting wages,... just, by buying out his own pocket, D cat accident damage stuff, to put in his own workshop, to repair, and, they are top drawer at what they do, then sell repaired declared Cat D stuff. But, certainly not the right time, to have a dozen repaired motors, standing unsold.
I asked him, about business 'help' he laughed, said your joking? something to do with rateable value of his premises.

Anyway, best wishes, never give up on the gee gees or Poker! although, my poker 'form' is horrendous, made a final table early hours 70 plus runners, £5.50, big stack rivers my QQ with a 2 (1) outer, played 1 BH today, 3 way all in on the flop, flopped the Q flush, ahead, guess!

Run great Prof, home made curry all prepped, now where is that beer?

    Sunday Musselburgh
    13.25 No 11
    FIRE AWAY
ex Irish joined and first run for Laura Mongon, been off for 5 months
Has got, winning Irish form, in a bumper at 2m 4f in a bog (at this distence, on heavy ground)
Goes off 10-4 bottom end of a class 4 handicap chase
'something here' perking my interest, take the standout 10-1 each way a fifth odds 1 2 3 4 and have 6 points each way

  • misterpjmisterpj Member Posts: 3,339
FIRE AWAY being punted, yes, could be false gamble, but, this has just gone, 11s,10s,8s,..
kid you not, 8s two places, but BV WH just went no offers!
Then priced it 5-2! and Skybet now put it in 5-2
Could be false punt, but, I doubt it very much, now that's VALUE
    got screenshots with time stamps

Did you watch the BUMPER from Leopardstown today Paul?

I would say the performance of KILCRUIT is the very best I've ever seen in a Bumper, including CUE CARD in the Cheltenham Bumper all those Years ago. To win literally HARD HELD in a Grade 2 Race, from a very good field was just amazing imo. I backed the 2nd LETSBECLEARABOUTIT (fortunatly e/w) which I know Gavin Cromwell thinks a lot of.

KILCRUIT defo BANKER material for Cheltenham ........sadly 2/1 Fav, but we haven't much over this side of the Water, and a winners a winner. I think it will go off Evens, and if SIR GERHARD doesn't run, then KILCRUIT will be Odds-on.
  • MISTY4MEMISTY4ME Member Posts: 6,346
Harry Fry has had a few horses run poorly this week, be careful with METIER in the Betfair Hurdle, which is a horse I absolutely adore, and was backing in SUPREME Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham :#
  • misterpjmisterpj Member Posts: 3,339
    Yes Misty

I pretty much watch all the Irish racing, I like seeing who buys what, from the Irish point to point scene, sadly suspended at present.
Such 'awful trying times' for all and everyone, across the spectrum, got friends with children of all ages, up too College Uni, finding the parents right now, really really feeling the strain, of this.

Racing, if the weather forecast correct? can't see much NH in the near future, horses preps all affected, as you know, stable staff, deserve so so much, 96% of the job, is non glamour, but, for most it's a love and a passion, not a 'job'

yes sir, as soon as any stable shows any signs, of all not being well, time to hold fire, but backed METIER so we shall see, just got a feeling about G Moores one, Fifty Ball off the featherweight

Really want, THIRD TIME LUCKI to do the business tomorrow, not from a betting perspective, someone I know, involved, they think the absolute world of the horse.

Constantly looking threw entries, of certain yards, Laura Morgans one, Sophie Leech another, been cleaning up, in France for a year, runs one at Pau tommorow, worth a look
Love racing, at all levels, just as excited about a class 6 entry as a grade 1,ie Chelmsford next Friday, two horses, one of D Brooks, and one of Gosdens.

Always always, try to find one, at a price, in the Cheltenham Bumper
Oldest time served jumps 'system' follow all Chelt Bumper runners, the following season, ti's a winner churning obvious angle.

Word been out for a long time, re SIR GERHARD, as for KILCRUIT... sensational....
SENSATIONAL and seriously, add to my Chelt Portfolio 30 points win 7-4 SKYBET right now

    Best Wishes
